SIGN THE PETITION TO KEEP NYC SCHOOL BUILDINGS CLOSED

This change.org petition to keep the schools in NYC closed is out there. I signed and encourage everyone to do the same.

As for going into a school building for elementary school teachers and other staffers on Monday, my recommendation is to stay safe and stay home if you don't believe your building is safe. Don't worry about retribution from the DOE or losing CAR days. We've explained over and over how you can rationally argue that you have a right to a safe work environment and these schools are not safe.

I signed the petition. There should be at least a 100 day closure -of all public schools retroactive to Nov. 23. and make it all remote—especially during this current environment of increasing hospitalizations and death. By the end of February—there can a proper evaluation on how to go forward with respect to any reopening on any level. By the way, all Eva Moskowitz Charter Schools have been doing all remote since September and will go that way to at least April—why are they treated different and why the aren’t parents of elementary kids and politicians complaining about no in person instruction?

Cant believe how gaslit this city is. Try leaving the state and see how more sane the rest of this country is(aside from CA,MI and IL). All run by tyrants. Get educated dummies. This virus is not the death sentence you all fear.
What you really should fear is whats happening to the other side of the ledger, which no one talks about. Your salary is paid by tax dollars. Think revenue is flowing in nicely? Think again. The freight train is approaching NYC and public employees will soon be flattened.

Mayor just upped the ante for closing schools, from 3% to 9%. Is he insane? Looks like he’s hoping for a die out, instead of a buy out.

And no word from the uft.

Surprised?

Now that all cohorts and newly opted in person children are returning Monday, I realize I am terrified. I cannot get a medical accomodation unfortunately but I am scared. Staten Island is above 5 percent - something that was supposed to mean school closure- and yet we are opening with the most amount of kids we've seen since early 2020.
UFT knows this isnt safe. Thats why they made the original 3% agreement with the mayor. The goal post was moved the moment we reached it and now the numbers are surging but lets throw the staff that cannot get accomodations and their families into the fire.
Is UFT silent because there's not enough of us making noise? Since its only elementary school staff and some already have accomodations?
I have severe anxiety. I don't understand how everything is considered safe from the last few weeks to now. I see kids wearing masks improperly. I see children not social distancing. What can we do? IM AFRAID.

25,166 cases a day on Sept 7th
216,422 cases a day on December 4th

Wonder what could have reopened in Sept?

Any comment from the uft?

I mean, this is a pro union blog. Certainly worth dues. Right?

So the communist James Eterno reveals himself. Censorship is the cornerstone of totalitarianism. And if your opinion doesn't line up with what the communists narrative, you are censored.
Pretty disgusting James, are you proud of yourself?

If every teacher applies for the family's first coronavirus response act you can get FULL PAY for two weeks which expires on December 31st. If I am correct you should fill out the paperwork this weekend and make it effective on December 9th. So you will get the full two weeks' pay till the 23rd. You have to do this immediately because this benefit expires again at year's end (use it or lose it). James has written about this act previously and it has helped many teachers. Please look at James' previous articles and fill this out ASAP. DO NOT go into these buildings!!! You can actually have a happy Chanukah and a Merry Christmas!!!!!

See why I get tired. I try so hard to be fair to those that disagree but still have to put up with 7:43 type comments. Now I am being red baited. I am going to pray to God for 7:14. Am I allowed to pray as a Commie?

James, don't listen to them. This is your blog, you make the rules. You're doing a great job putti f up with this blatant instigation. As others have said, if they care much about their view, they can start their own blog.

Leave James alone, 7:43. I'm more of a commie if you look at my personal twitter and Facebook.
