We all want the young to keep their jobs. They’ll fund our pension system so we can enjoy retirement. A righty and a lefty agree on something. We’ve never had a POTUS that effected the working life of a nyc teacher more than Obama. Race to the Top killed any joy left in the job. I prefer it when POTUSes stay out of education. We’re always better off. NYC crime? Up to those of you in nyc to pick your poison. Liberal soft on crime and good for UFT or tough on crime and tough on UFT . Or another DeBlasio who managed to be soft on crime but tough on UFT. You’ve got to sleep in the bed you make. Tough choice. Good luck.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15921757.post-6109829051345369442021-04-22T12:13:23.667-04:002021-04-22T12:13:23.667-04:00Our friend. Point made.

Thanks.

I want to point out that the Unity notes that DoeNuts printed, they include a section "Questions for Critics" - which are a series of ad hominem arguments, written by a Unity leader, put in the hands of loyal followers. Ad hominems are attacks on a person, rather than on the argument.

I also want to point out that there is no acknowledgement that a huge number of delegates REJECTED the proposals for Brooklyn Beep, Comptroller, and others.

And finally, the notes were written before Unity had made public their choice - so it would not be fair to criticize the notes for not mentioning Stringer. But at the special Delegate Assembly, Unity devoted significantly more time to defending their process than to making the case for their chosen candidate.

Jonathan

Jonathanhttp://jd2718.orgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15921757.post-90541622241484377012021-04-22T10:42:01.342-04:002021-04-22T10:42:01.342-04:00I want to vomit 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 looking at all the dems...I want to vomit 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 looking at all the dems running for mayor, disturbed. People care. Most teachers just don’t care about what the UFT cares about. Most teachers care about their day to day work environment, work load , pay and medical benefits. That’s it. So unless a particular mayoral candidate or a particular policy affects one of those areas most teachers don’t care who is mayor of nyc. Bloomberg a Republican pretending to be a democrat made us really hate the job but then along came the most progressive democrat mayor in ny history and he made us more miserable so in the end... no I really don’t care who the next mayor is. I don’t live in nyc so my interest is purely in my pay, benefits and working conditions. If I lived there I’d be voting for the next Giuliani to clean up the crime even if it meant he/she treated the UFT like shit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15921757.post-41551452228440610872021-04-22T00:12:25.672-04:002021-04-22T00:12:25.672-04:00Apparently, despite the process, the UFT will be ...Apparently, despite the process, the UFT will be screwed no matter who they support. Mulgrew believes that Stringer represents the best of the worst of the field —in terms of supporting the best political interests of the UFT—especially with respect to healthcare and other labor/educational issues. But, then Stringer can win—and then say-‘screw you’ to Mulgrew and claim that as Mayor he represents the entire city. However, if Stringer loses the primary—which is a real possibility because the UFT has a poor record with mayoral primary endorsements since 1989–then what happens? The winning candidate will owe absolutely no allegiance to the UFT—and this union will not support the Republican candidate. This is a lose-lose situation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15921757.post-6842934014900269712021-04-21T23:34:42.488-04:002021-04-21T23:34:42.488-04:00I think 9:52 was meaning nobody cares about the en...I think 9:52 was meaning nobody cares about the endorsement because we didn't have a say in it.
