Maybe they won't help us at all if they win but if Bill deBlasio and John Liu lose tomorrow's runoff Democratic primary for public advocate and comptroller, then the UFT will be in an even weaker position than we are already in since we have pushed so strongly for these two candidates.
Ever since 2001 when the UFT endorsed three losing Mayoral candidates, the UFT endorsement has been a little tainted. Tomorrow's run-off could turn the tide a little back in our favor.
ICE has not endorsed any candidate in these races; I am writing this post as strictly my own opinion and I also placed it in my Chapter newsletter.
You have reached a new low. Supporting these bozos just because it will strengthen the UFT is like sending more troops for peace. The UFT is already weakened by the failure to endorse Thompson...the rest is nonesense.
ReplyDeleteThis is not an official ICE position. ICE as a group has not endorsed any candidates. For anonymous - I say the same about Thompson, a complete lackey of the UFT for decades and a supporter of mayoral control. I will vote for him to build the anti-Bloomberg totals.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I will vote for Liu because he took positions on mayoral control and Tweed that had some guts. He even showed up at the Coalition for Public Education founding convention, a group with one of the strongest stands against BloomKlein.
This is not an ice position and just an opinion. That was clearly stated in the post. Relax out there.
ReplyDeleteThey are not perfect; but hallmarks of their candidacies have been opposition to King Michael over schools policy. De Blasio has pledged to have public meetings for parents, and Liu has pledged to audit the DoE. With the clear electoral mandates tonight, Bloomberg must be fuming tonight.

Liu has come right out and said Klein is bad for education. But where is Thompson??? Haven't seen one ad. Can he be another pawn in this election??
ReplyDeleteDidn't deBlasio take the 3rd term council vote to court???
