Dear TRS Member:
We know that many of you experienced difficulties with our website over the past several days, either when registering for the first time, logging in and being prompted for a verification code, or receiving confirmation emails from online transactions. An unusually high volume of users during this period compounded the problems, and many members were justifiably frustrated.
We sincerely apologize for the problems our members experienced, particularly while they were attempting to increase their TDA contribution rate in advance of the September 16 filing deadline. Due to the website issues, TRS has worked to extend the filing deadline to Thursday, September 21, at 9:00 AM.
Members who file for a rate change prior to Thursday at 9:00 AM will have their new TDA rate take effect on the October 16 payroll (which will include a retroactive payment under the UFT contract for many members). New TDA rates will take effect on the October 31 payroll for members who file after 9:00 AM on September 21 through October 1.
Remember, your new TDA contribution rate will remain in effect until you change it, so you'll probably want to make another online rate change in time for the following payroll.
Thank you for your patience—and your participation in the Tax-Deferred Annuity Program.
Sincerely,
TRS Member Services
Is it best to contribute the full rate? Also I'm not sure what funds to put my money into. Any tips?
ReplyDeleteMaxing out your TDA contribution will result in a much smaller tax bite when the retro arrives.
ReplyDeleteAs for where to put it, the Fixed fund is an amazing benefit, doubling your money in ten years with little or no risk. Think about it: what pays 7% these days, almost risk-free.
The other funds can earn more, but are susceptible to losses, as well.
More dumb questions, when will they learn? You cant read up on this stuff after how many years?
ReplyDeleteThis is why 77% voted yes. Nobody cares, nobody reads, nobody understands, then asks questions for last 4 years about our raises and retro
ReplyDeleteAre we getting a raise? Great. When do we get it? Lol
DeleteIts pretty pathetic, and people wonder why we get walked all over. What is the retro, like 1000 bucks? Fuck you, go figure it out and do the math like I did. Do we get a bonus anytime soon? Read the piece of paper with the piggy bank on it. Do we get raise next month? OMG. The raises are May, the retro is October, like every other year.
ReplyDeleteSo you are smarter than the average teacher. How does that help us?
ReplyDeleteit shows many are dumb, yes. We cant be helped, too late.
ReplyDelete5:23, the next(last) raise is not in May.
ReplyDeleteThe mighty teachers union is going to fall. The funny thing is that it will be the fault of all the dumb teachers who don't care and the all folks on these blogs who complain and do something. It's hilarious. I'm sitting back and just watching it all come down. Good job everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael. Appreciate the advice.
ReplyDeleteActually, in 18, the raise was May, it is now May and June, due to another uft mishap.
ReplyDeleteOh, its falling fast. Retro and resign/quit/retire.
ReplyDeleteThe only good thing is that even if you retire you still get the retro that you are due. If you quit or resign you won't get a penny of it. I just hope that wewill still get the three 25% retro payments in 2018, 2019 & 2020 once the contract expires.
ReplyDeleteWe will get it, question is if we will have an on time deal with raises on 12/1/18.
ReplyDeleteM Sill will be having an ATR meeting. Dates have been provided.
ReplyDeleteHe is useless, same crap every year, they dont even give refreshments anymore.
ReplyDeleteAsk for some Vaseline.
ReplyDelete@6:25PM - Attend the meeting to keep up to date. Try to keep your spirits up.
ReplyDeleteSome of you will hate me but it's time to sell out the ATR's in the next contract for more money. I think it would be fair if ATR's had 1 or even 2 years to find a job then that's it. Sorry folks.
ReplyDelete@8:04PM - Thank you for the support. You may not know it, but you are one step from becoming an ATR yourself. You are foolish, naive and STUPID!
ReplyDelete8:04PM thinks that will resolve everything. You don't know what you say and what you will bring onto yourself and others in the profession by thinking this way. Don't drink the Kool-Aid @8:04PM.
ReplyDeleteEven when I was not an ATR I always treated an ATR staff nicely and never gave a shit if they were assigned something to do or not. It's all a plan to try to belittle the ATR status staff, fuck with the person's mind, dismantle the power of the union, pensions, seniority, etc. @8:04PM - May you never have to eat your words.
ReplyDelete8:04,
ReplyDeleteIf the UFT could have sold us out they would have done it already. That's evident in everything thing they have been doing and not doing. Shit they crafted the ATR pool. They can't put a time limit there's LIFO in NYS. Sell your ass on the street if you want a few extra dollars.
Once an ATR, always an ATR. 8:04 you are just totally wrong. If the ATRs are gone after a year or two, receivership and other ways to replace a staff will take hold in more and more schools and you can almost completely kiss whatever tenure protections and any seniority rights we have left goodbye. As insensitive as I find some of the racially charged remarks here, yours is just as ignorant and wrong as well as being offensive. You too if not for some luck could be an ATR. I hope you reconsider your position and remember you are in a labor union where we need to have solidarity.
ReplyDelete@804
ReplyDeleteYou are either a rookie or completely oblivious.
I've been an atr for 8 years. I have applied to 100 openings every year. I'm 40 years old.
Do you think I signed up for this?
Get a clue.
I bet you also think your AP is your friend.
Guys like you are why the uft membership is crap.
I'll bet you also say 'I never have issues with administration or student behavior'
Mike sill is probably hoping for the same reward as amy.
ReplyDeleteAct as mulgrew' uft shill and be rewarded
