UFT PUTS MEMBER WHO CALLED DURING BUSINESS HOURS ON HOLD AND THEN HANGS UP!

UFT President Michael Mulgrew recently introduced UFT customer service along with their shiny new app. Well I have some advice for Mr. Mulgrew and UFT Queens Borough Representative Amy Arundell:

Please learn a little about customer service before you start throwing the term around.

Case in point:
A friend of mine was in contact with me yesterday about filing a very important grievance. The member (sorry leadership, we are not customers; we are UFT members) calls the UFT Queens Office at 5:36 P.M. I was texted the time of the call. After being told by the person answering the phone that the member would have to wait on hold because the entire staff was involved in a very important meeting, the member waited patiently for the meeting to end. At approximately 6:10 P.M. the member was abruptly disconnected after waiting on hold for over half an hour. Subsequently, the member called back and was told by a machine that the office was now closed and please call back tomorrow.

Are you kidding me?

Is that a way any business would treat its customers? I don't think so.

This is just an example of how the UFT has not changed at all even with the Janus Supreme Court case looming where dues could become optional  very soon. It's business as usual at least in Queens.

Would you give your money to any business that treats its "customers" in this manner? A union should not treat its members in this way either.

  2. We all know at this point that the UFT is useless.

  3. The problem is the UFT and all the lousy lazy losers that work for them get paid whether they do a good work, bad job or no work. No incentive for the to do anything or just the minimum that won’t get a hard working teacher to go ballistic. That’s all going to change very soon. UFT start working for the tremendous amount of money you pick our pockets for each month or we don’t want or need you.

    1. All these UFT people are arrogant, and ineffective.

  4. This makes perfect sense to me. For decades the UFT got its money no matter how well it served us, the membership, a/k/a the customers.

Post-Janus the UFT will actually have to prove its worth, if the product is not worth the dues we will simply shop elsewhere or do without the product.

  5. That has happened to me more times than I can count. It is a fact that starting a half hour or so before closing time , no one, I repeat no one will pick up the phone. You may get transferred but then they won't pick up either. GO ahead leave a message, in ten years I have worked for the DOE I have called and left maybe 30-40 messages at various extensions and never once got a call back. I have always and I mean ALWAYS have had to call back until someone picked up. And did I ever get help or useful advice? NOPE, NEVER. In fact I have been told more than once how lucky I was to have a job and that I should tow the line because of it and it's so much worse everywhere else. I actually answered "maybe" on the janus survey and they had the balls to send me an email thanking me for sticking with the union. Oh and they raised my dues again. FUCK YOU UFT. I am now keeping my dues and spending three more years in the system and then getting the fuck out. I'd leave now but fuck them I want the 30,000 they owe me. They want to get rid off us expensive vets? Give my retro in a lump sum tomorrow and I'll say goodbye forever. Rant over. FUCK THE UFT.

  6. I haven't received a Janus survey, but will answer any and all question with UFT's responses to all my questions this year - Possibly Maybe. They should pay royalties to Bjork.

  7. They are so useless in everything they do.

  8. I actually had a positive experience today, calling at 5:38p to headquarters with a pension question. Call was answered by operator and transferred to a reps voicemail. That rep actually called me back at 5:58p and handled my issue in a very courteous manner. :)
And BTW- I've posted here many times being very critical of this union.

    1. That happened because of this blog. The UFT called all their borough offices today. Try calling Sill some time, if you want a full whack of indifferent incompetence.

  9. Janus will lead many dues-paying customers to jump ship. Will we ever get a hard copy of the current contract? The NY Teacher magazine is now a monthly periodical. It was published twice a month in past years. I guess there is no great news to publish.

  10. Hey anno 7:41, you got that right. There is NO good news to publish. In fact, there is only bad news for us these days but the UFT does not want to do a damn thing about it.

    1. I don’t like all the racial nonsense that’s always on here - probably Unity’s dirty deed. I will say this however, DeBlasio is showing racism in that he doesn’t think Black and Hispanic kids can pass entrance exams into specialized high schools. By using race as a qualifying issue he does a disservice to all racial groups in that individuals should be judged equally on individual merits. Improve the elementary and middle schools if you want to improve everyone’s chance of getting in. The UFT should echo that.

    2. Funny you only post “racial nonsense “ when it fits your well throughout narrative. Another liberal fool. Can’t make this stuff up.

    3. As opposed to a conservative fool? I’m neither. What kind of fool are you - just a judgmental one? Perhaps you should rethink over your ‘well throughout narrative’.

    4. I’m an American fool the biggest fool in the world. Yeah let’s not talk about racial non sense but wait the mayor is showing racism. Too funny my highly intelligent friend. I was I had the vast amount of in-depth perspective as you clearly have demonstrated. Good try though better luck next time and God bless.

    5. Thanks for your blessing, it’s an improvement over being called a liberal fool. When you judge others and insult them, you’re not proving a thing. I was not trying to do anything other than answer your comment.

    6. Practice what you preach. You don’t want to be judged but wait for it, are judging the mayor by saying he may be racists. An interlligent person just told me when you judge and insult others you are not proving a thing. Sound familiar? Liberals can’t even follow their own talking points.

    7. I’m not a liberal. Showing racism is not nessesarily being a racist. I’m not judging the mayor, just that proposed policy - I like him and respect him. Your logic doesn’t hold up. You’re not proving a thing.

  13. The UFT is failing many veteran teachers by not enforcing the contract, and by not challenging any supervisors.

  14. Please stay on topic. UFT is not racist. Post was on indifference.

I will have a happy update soon as Amy has called back the member who was put on hold and disconnected.

  16. I've called UFT office dozens of times with never a retirnre call in response. When a rep would come to the school there would always be some excuse why this continually happened. I am specifically referring to the Bronx office D 75 line.... Later dues. The $1500 I will save in cutting my dues will be considered interest from my BS lump payments thank you.

    1. These people do not seem accountable to anyone. They are arrogant and they do not lusten to the members.

  17. What we need is to protest, and demand back respect. These UFT people are arrogant, and they are incompetent.

  18. Tell me who you are. Come out of the shadows and I will gladly forward information to the leadership as I did today. Don't take it.
