There are all kinds of interpretations of this Eric Adams comment on PIX 11:
Fresh off his election night win, Adams told PIX11 News on Wednesday the Department of Education needs an overhaul that will bring the joy of learning back to the classroom.
“One of the greatest embarrassments in our city is what’s happening with the Department of Education. Great teachers, great educators, but the system is failing,” he said. “We’re spending over $30 billion a year and have children in this city — 65% of Black and brown children never reach proficiency.”
The UFT isn't worried:
Michael Mulgrew, president of the United Federation of Teachers union, told PIX11 News on Wednesday he’s looking forward to working with Adams to expand the gifted and talented program and increase the graduation rate through vocational education.
Your take?
His girlfriend works for Central. She's giving him the inside scoop on the dysfunction. Hopefully this boxes well for us and the kids. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be the same old nonsense. Each mayor that came in promised sweeping changes and really nothing has changed. The system is just going to keep deteriorating. He'll just implement some nonsense programs that won't work, encourage grade fraud and use smoke and mirrors to make it look like the students are proficient when they are not.
ReplyDeleteBefore we have a "joy of learning" we have to deal with the "joy of teaching'. Uninspired, overworked, disrespected teachers are not going to inspire a joy of learning in their students. No way, no how.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a capt obvious comment
ReplyDeleteNothing will change unless it comes from members actions. Unity must go. Vote for a better union.
ReplyDeleteThe DOE is an embarrassment because it has been criminally mismanaged by Bloomberg and de Blasio for 20 years. This includes the cronyism as well as the many, many scandalous contracts.
ReplyDeleteIt is high time for the DOE to be purged of grotesque administrative bloat from the Blomberg/ de Blasio ideologically driven enterprise.
Smaller classes, fewer education fads, and back to basic education are all required now.
I wonder if they will get rid of Dwarka of Bryant High School she has not only created a toxic environment she is bringing the school to the ground.
DeleteI get abused by students due to my honest grading.
ReplyDeleteExample...
Student has under 50% attendance in every class in MP 1.
Her grades...
85 in English
92 in PE
85 in Math
80 in Science
Amazing this girl got a 1 something on her assessment tests and is in a transfer school. She has mastery in eveything without showing up. She should be in Harvard Law School. But I'm the problem.
Grade inflation and fraudulent graduation rates are an important part of the criminal mismanagement of the education. Cumulatively there destructive effects cause
ReplyDeletea significant deterioration in educational legitimacy. De Blasio is a neo-racist because he
played this corrupt political game with the schools.
Mayoral control of the schools is the root of the problem, not the solution.
Lets see this as an opportunity to evaluate what the Danielson is doing to our classrooms. We need to take seriously what the DOE means when they say that they want principals to rate with fidelity. Lets talk about to what extend are instructional strategies allighned to the Danielson the reason for the alarming lack of basic knowledge in our students. We should discuss the effect of abusive principals and other administrative abuse. We need to discuss the joke we call C-30 committee. Was it ever that the finalist was not from the inside? There is a lot to talk about. Maybe we can begin by trying to figure out why this job is attracting fewer people than ever.
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean ‘ the parents will run the schools’ instead of the DOE bureaucrats?
ReplyDeleteThey need first for SCI, and OSI to do their work by stop covering up for abusive Principals like Dwarka or Elaine Lindsey her superintendent protector who gets away with everyting.
ReplyDeleteWho can know what Adams is talking about here. Is he saying we can do a better job, specifically for Black and Brown students if we spend the money better or is it that we are wasting money and can cut the budget while making necessary improvements where improvement in most needed (Black and Brown schools)? Who knows? We sure don't. Will he replace the current chancellor, the first Black woman to hold the position? If he does it will signal a major change. But is suspect he will keep her. So more of the same and an even greater push to promote the "Bronx methods" strategies and and focuses in all schools. This, of course, is what De Blasio did with mayoral control, so I disagree with those that keep repeating the mantra that the Bloomberg crew are still in charge. Yes, the business model of Bloomberg is still in play and won't go away. And, we should remember that the UFT is on that band wagon too. It's an odd bastard, a mixture of Bloomberg technopoly-- “the culture seeks its authorization in technology, finds its satisfactions in technology, and takes its orders from technology” (Postman)-- a warped woke Progressivism, and Labor ridden hard and put away wet. The UFT will continue with concession bargaining, agreement after agreement, a death of the Contract by a thousand cuts.
ReplyDeleteIt's only November, we've been at this for under 40 days and we have several agreements that weaken the contract.
In annualized high schools they are now re-organizing at mid year so that teachers are getting new programs.
Are we annualized or not? What does that even mean?
Welcome to the business of education. Work and smile or die (Ehrenreich).
Corruption existed before mayoral control. Instead of many corrupt little fish on a board we have corrupt big fish in a mayor. Nothing will get better under Adams. He’ll appoint some overpaid morons, enact expensive programs that don’t work. Same old same old. Milk it. Go home. Forget the job until the next work day.
ReplyDeleteIf Adams's girlfriend is an administrator at Central, she may be part of the swamp.
ReplyDeleteAll those people in the Central Offices need to go if Adams truly wants the DOE to be about education. These people, and the mayor, are responsible for the corrupt, self-serving, degenerative, money pit known as the NYC DOE. If Adams keeps these people in place, he is just blowing hot air and the corruption will just continue.
https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/leadership/doe-leadership-and-offices/doe-organization
We also need to do away with the abusive, and coercive "scholarship meetings". Has anyone ever been asked to gather all of their grading data, and student contact information, and bring it to the Principal's or AP's office for a student who has passed without merit? Has anyone been denied tenure for passing undeserving students?
ReplyDeleteIt's coercion to force teachers to pass students by using the threat of a disparaging meeting where absolutely nothing a teacher presents as to why a student failed is considered. The real kick in the gut is when you have to be subjected to the abuse over a no-show or student who barely comes. Some of the no-shows have been absent for four years, and you are supposed to magically make them appear in your classroom and do grade level work. It's asinine, but besides being asinine Principals should have to answer for the flagrant abuse they visit upon their teachers year, after year. These posts should all be forwarded to Adams with the question, "What do you intend to do about this"? But perhaps it would have been more prudent to ask him all of this before he was elected.
Careful what you wish for. They'll gut the leaves unit so when u apply for a leave it never gets approved. A lot of DoE bureaucracy is needed to serve us.
ReplyDeleteAdams can start by closing the Klein Educational Palace at 52 Chambers Street. Hey, the new thing, which is the old thing, is to give power back to the parents.
ReplyDeleteDo you guys really think anything will change? An even better question is do you really want them to expose the doe for what it is? Or, do you guys think anyone in politics really cares about the doe?
ReplyDeleteThe answer to all three questions is a resounding no.
We all to some extent play the game. We are all doing what we can to get through the day.
Do any of you have friends or spouses who work jobs in the real world? I do. Guess what? Those jobs suck more than our jobs. Calls at all hours of the night, constant work dinners and Xmas parties.
People, we have a job where we work 180 days a year with zero accountability and a pension, benefits and summers off.
So the kids who don’t care don’t learn anything? Guess what? Who cares? Not. My. Problem!!!!!!
Nothing changes except a new person in a suit. Why not bring up the realities of our system which is a social welfare program? .
ReplyDeleteAt work I am ready to answer parents by saying
"good morning social services how can I help you?"
But I cant do that because the truth hurts.
How about all you progressive liberals address the real issues of a broken family system
Everyone has a story. Lets see Biden send in more illegals into the system that cant even take care of the homegrown over aged illiterate and you want to blame the DOE?
Wake up!!! Adams and everyone else knows what the real problem is but why talk about the elephant in the room. Good luck Mr tough talking new mayor but nothing changes again.
926 which economic and political systems have created, amplified, and been unable to solve these problems?
Delete8:47: True, but we are talking about the ones that have made up jobs. I know a principal who was removed from my high school who now serves as the leader in some made up program in Staten Island. Also, we don't need all these people visiting schools with their check off lists. Also, who approved that SEL survey we have to give to the kids? There is money wasted plain and simple.
ReplyDelete9:26 why do progressive liberals have to address the real issues of a broken family system? Stop being an ass. We're teachers with enough on our plates, but you want us to address the "real issues of a broken family system?". Well, hell, isn't that what the DOE is demanding of us? I guess you're on board with their bullshit.
ReplyDelete@10:40 am...says stop being an ass. I can't lmho
Delete9:25 not sure where you work, but plenty of teachers have a lot of accountability. Isn't that what most folks on here complain about? That they try to make us accountable for everything? But oh no, those poor folks with their work dinners and xmas parties. Seriously? Unless you are top tier management nobody is getting called at all hours of the night.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone thinks a nyc mayor will cut useless bloat, you will be disappointed. The political machine of NYC feeds their cronies with bloat. They would starve the kids before they would starve their cronies.
ReplyDeleteThe government cannot fix broken families but they can sure break them by encouraging single motherhood. Children from 2 parent families are, statistically speaking, less likely to be criminals. Stop subsidizing tax dollars for working fathers and thinking you can fix broken families.
ReplyDelete@1138 am... are you talking about the US govt? Oh you will need more than this blog and traditional history lessons to fully understand its role.
Delete1040 I rest my case !!!
ReplyDeleteyou call me an ass ..look in the mirror jackass liberal.. I am blaming the government NOT the teachers but obviously you cant see pass your own self righteousness
My point is This mayor can talk tough but nothing is going to get done.
.WATCH AND SEE...HAPPY HOLIDAYS CUPCAKES
1218 you are no different than your enemy. liberals and conservatives fighting each other while protecting and serving the same system. neither group ever does anything to bring about change. just like Unity caucus, a mix of liberals and conservatives, name calling and arguing over social politics, while preserving the status quo that keeps all our problems in place. stop voting for all of them.
Delete@345pm... Precisely. Arguing over whose party gives the best breadcrumbs.
Delete"Stop subsidizing tax dollars for working fathers" - what does this even mean?
ReplyDelete106 it means that person hates the idea of helping poor working or jobless single parents financially.
DeleteAny teacher can tell you, it is the lack of parental engagement with little to no desire to engage responsibly with children. There are many single parents out there that do a fine job when their children are of a primary concern.
ReplyDeleteFamilies can be on a low pay scale or have a decent income, it makes no difference if you work or you don't work, what matters is the responsibility taken on when individuals choose to have children.
"Show me a parent who cares and I'll show you a child that will progress."
It doesn't matter where you come from, it matters who you are.
And, that is the truth, the "Elephant in the Room". Adam's has got to knows this.
Any teacher should not throw stones while in their glass house. Any teacher is surviving this system by not doing what they are hired to do. Any teacher can who points out what parents are not doing should make sure they hold themselves and other teachers to the same standard. Don't look over and judge someone else's backyard while your background is on life support. Just saying.
Delete9:50 - ooooh, I know this one. ALL of them for $500 Alex.
ReplyDelete113. try again. we only have one economic system here. and only one political system protecting it... what are they called?
Deleteregarding Parent Teacher Conferences , I sent out several email blasts inviting all of my students parents.
ReplyDeleteI have only heard back from one parent.
There is not much parent engagement because there is a social political malaise among
the working parents, many of them are impoverished and living lives of dependency.
I think that the politicians of NY city encourages social dysfunction among the poor and middle class.
Many NY city residents would be better off moving to more affordable cities. These folks stay in NY city because they have a co-dependence on the NY city social safety net, schools, subsidized housing and welfare.
This is not a healthy or rational social environment.
New York city is overpopulated.
The population of New York City should be no more five or six million people, period.
From Marc above...Problem? I think so.
ReplyDelete"Student has under 50% attendance in every class in MP 1.

Saw this coming...
ReplyDeletehttps://nypost.com/2021/11/07/eric-adams-wants-to-end-school-mask-mandates/
Yes, I agree with all of you. When your child is failing everything in school and you find nothing wrong with it, there is something wrong with you as a parent. Same thing if your child is cutting school and you do nothing about it. Before people become parents, they should be vetted. Just having kids so you can say you're a mother or a father is screwed up.
ReplyDeleteAlso what's screwed up is not doing what you're paid to do even when it's difficult. People have literally dropped the ball after 20 years of being beaten down by the doe system. You want to hold others accountable which is fine but you should hold yourself accountable too.
Delete1:46 An impoverished family or parent dependent on the government is not an excuse or reason to get a pass on taking care of one's parental responsibility. It does not take much to open your child's bag and read school notices, check assignments accordingly. When parents don't even do that to be responsible and well informed, lack of progress is what you will get.
ReplyDeletePlease don't make excuses. There are people out there that have climbed out of co-dependency, with all the supports the government offers, it is not impossible, there needs to be a desire.
Being co-dependent is not a life sentence nor an excuse for educational neglect, it's a choice.
I was a single parent raising 2 children, no family support, on my own and co-dependent on social programs. I took responsibility for my children's education. I opened that school bag every day and made sure homework was done and was in touch with the school. I also climbed out of a bad situation, went to school and worked 2 jobs. That was my choice. My children grew up literate and are successful today because of my value on education.
448 some make it, many never will. that is how a class system works, by creating, maintaining, and keeping people in poverty. class systems necessitate class inequality. the system is the problem.
Delete@4:48 pm..your story is beautiful. The government has caused generations of families to be lost and dependent. While many families struggle so many more have the same story of success that you shared. Now I don't if you read the comments of those teachers who prefer to pass students rather than face retaliation. So the cycle of poverty continues. It's bewildering how some people just don't see their role in this system. Parents have a responsibility. Teachers have a responsibility. Students have a responsibility. Agency have a responsibility. It's bat sh^t crazy how the broken spoke in the wheel of a bike blames the other spokes for the bike not working. Our educational system has failed more people than we know. Since the government created this problem, i will hold them accountable to fix it. There is a poster on here who said it best: there is one system in place in the US. That system doesn't care about you if you sit quietly in the corner content with your stale sandwich. Wake up
Delete325,
ReplyDeleteHow many times do you tell kids to put masks on? I must do it a lot and they keep removing the mask. Might as well end the mandate considering you have to be vaccinated to work in a school. Covid is over, bro. Time to move on. Heck, we don’t wear masks in gyms, restaurants or stores anymore.
Don't care about the masks... It's the point that he's already flip flopping on what he said prior to mayors race.
DeleteGet ready for some fun come January.
3:46, This is not about financially helping those in need. You don't need money to open your child's school bag and see what they are doing in school, to question them about their day or oversee review work for a test.
ReplyDelete501 explain that to the person that brought up tax dollars and welfare. not to the person that called out their obvious hatred of poor people.
DeleteTime for the masks to come off. COVID is over. We have vaccines, treatments, and pills. It's time to get back to normal. We beat COVID.
ReplyDelete515,
ReplyDeleteEvery time a new mayor wins, they flip flop. Do you know anything about politics?
Every new term we always say,’wait until you see what happens now………we’re screwed’. Bla bla bla bla bla.
Guess what? Nothing in the doe ever changes. You know it and I know it!
Here is the truth about this job. It is as good or as bad as the principal you work for. That is the main part of liking or hating this job. It’s not the kids, it’s not the colleagues or the commute or time off.
ReplyDeleteAfter 20 years, I finally have a fair principal and it’s liberating. She plays the game. As a veteran, you have to know what they ‘want’ vs what is required. Most get what I am referring to.
Serious question: To those who have worked other jobs, is this that bad of a job? I don’t feel it is
I'm only 3 yrs in D75 and only a para after stage 4 cancer and family issues destroyed me. So certainly don't have much insight about DOE...but.
DeleteWorking for DOE even in D75 during COVID-19 is the easiest job I've seen on balance.
This is assuming I was a teacher not just a para so I'd get much much more stress but also more pay.
Hear me out before you explode.
- Job security more than any other job I can think of. This is why we hide at DOE right?
- Pay for hours and days we work. Simply better than anything else with the expected skills, effort and results expected.
I'm not a kid, so my past jobs all required more than just college degree. I wasn't anyone's boss always but never didn't get calls, email at night, weekends etc. Travel, breakfasts, dinners yup.
That said I certainly had the freedom to F up and get fired or do something my way and get a bonus or promoted. They couldn't argue with results...but mistakes would be measurable somewhat and noticed. Quickly. There was loyalty though and no rules that couldn't be broken if you actually worked hard and were good at your job.
So can we survive in DOE just because the hours, pay, security and actually daily tasks are easier...not sure.
NYC DOE does suck the life from you.
The stupid reason things are done, the lack of leadership and incompetent that get promoted.
I don't think I can handle being a teacher long term even if I could just magically get hired with only my credentials and ability.
I'm too weak to leave and to weak to stay.
I think we can take small victories and steps to have a healthy job at DOE. The lucky that have been here 10 or 15 years know how to play it he game AND still enjoy many days.
Just this weekend my best friend 18yrs DOE finished a nice run and stopped over. Shared that this week during a lesson a student "got it" better than they could have dreamed.
Almost brought them to tears.
Same teacher gets interrupted when we're at the gym from old students that say thanks. Some of you teachers or paras do save some of these kids. Simple reality of the role we have.
Yes it sucks to many days and it really doesn't need to.
I miss the recklessness and risk of my corporate and startup jobs. Yet that also pretty much killed me.
Most have no idea how difficult it is mentally, competitively and physically at non NYC govt jobs. The $ isn't really better than a NYC teacher and you are competing with sharks all smarter than you.
Hopefully we all find a way to heal ourselves mentally. The people I work with make my day bright.
Covid is so much less risk than last year this time. Live as well as you can.
He's going to cut doe by 5 percent first month. Mostly will be teachers getting the boot in June.
ReplyDelete@4:48 pm
ReplyDeleteMy argument is not with the exceptional parent that is doing everything
that a parent should do to help their child succeed.
My argument is as follows: as a general rule parents become dependent the social welfare economic system and are generally set up for failure by the NY city government. The government creates class divisions and subdivisions through (permanent) dependencies on the social safety net.
The NYC government is in fact subsidizing wealthy individuals in
the fields of real estate, health care, retail, tourism and finance. The billionaires and multi-millionaires of NY city are the beneficiaries of these subsidies.
These wealthy individuals patronize and fund the politicians who service them.
NY city is plagued by this crony capitalism.
For most poor NY city residents, their quality of life here is horrible.
Back in 2013 ,de Blasio was right to call out NY city as "a tale of tow cities."
Next , we experienced the horrors of de Blasio's failed leadership.
The last eight years have been the tale of two de Blasios.
The De Blasio that spoke out against wealth inequality and the de Blasio that acted
in service of his wealthy patrons were entirely different personalities.
521 I know 4 people who got sick with covid very recently. Two were non vaxed and non masked and two were vaxxed.one never goes out.i guess someone brought it to her...NO issue masking.i hate on lirr they brazenly don't mask(about 50%)I'm only riding one line once a week so nor sure about commuters.i have taken train other times in rush hour.its a bit better but it passes me off 5hat people think their exhalation are safe.or maybe they just don't care.i bet lots of fake cards.someone I know made a fake one using her friend's photo unbeknownst to her!I'm not saying to be paranoid, just to be prudent.wonder that the colder months will being...
ReplyDeleteEric already flip flopped b4 taking office.he said we will revisit the mandate and I think, work with unions.he then said re kyrie that he will not change the mandate.let's go Adam! Lol
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not the main reason Adams wants the mask mandate to end is so you can see children smile. I really don't see his point that it's tough to make friends wearing a mask in school and congrats to all you out there who don't see living in poverty as a reason why your children should fail in school.
ReplyDelete3:41 enough of your guessing games. How about you answer it.
ReplyDeleteDeBlasio says "at least in the short term because they’ve really worked, because the kids have adapted to them well, the adults have adapted to them well". Is he a liar or does he really believe this stuff. Nobody has adapted well to this.
ReplyDelete6:57,
ReplyDeleteMy husband got very sick with covid. I don't know when I'll stop wearing masks. Some store clerks are grateful. I worked in fast food and one customer coughed several times at the edge of the plastic partition. Loud coughs. No one who works with the public should be paid less than $20/hr and 95 masks should be sold in stores, not just online. If we can't do that, we should at least be respectful and mask up.
@12:18 well dopey, maybe you shouldn't drink and post if you can't remember what you say from one post to the next but this "How about all you progressive liberals address the real issues of a broken family system", doesn't sound like you were blaming the "government, and not the teachers". Adams is "all you progressive liberals"? You sound dumb. Adams is far from a "progressive liberal".
ReplyDelete"Before people become parents, they should be vetted". Was this written by a "my body, my choice" conservative? I'm really curious.
ReplyDelete9:11: You're not good at recognizing sarcasm are you?
ReplyDelete5:28. There are good and bad things about all jobs. However I will list my family for you.
ReplyDeleteSister: accountant
Sister in law: nurse
Brother in law: works for mta
Other brother in law: works as electrical inspector
Brother: works at Verizon.
Stepbrother: air traffic controller.
Dad: insurance salesman.
None of the above take or do work at home except my dad. And he controls how much he will do depending on how much he wants to make. And none of them are constantly harassed by a supervisor or go to stupid meetings on the regular.
9:48 Then you're ok with people having kids just so they can say they're a mother or father? Which is it? But nice way to avoid the question.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the party in power, there is no excuse in NYC for spending $40,000,000,000 in one year on the school system that is such an obvious corrupt failure with regards to education. The corruption and failure leads me to believe that failure is the goal.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who chooses to be targeted, harassed, 3020’d , lose license, pension to fight against DOE grading and passing policies is free to do so. When the students’ parents stand up and complain about grades being unearned or too high let me know. Still waiting for NYC to have THAT protest. I’m an employee not a martyr for your cause. But if martyrdom is what you seek, I’ll light a candle for you the next time I pass a church.
ReplyDeleteI don’t wear masks except to school or on planes or in medical waiting rooms. Hopefully, in 2022, mask mandates go away. It’s time in my opinion. Unless you want no risk for anything in life, never leave home or be around another person. Everything in life is a risk.
ReplyDeleteI’m 50+ Miles out of nyc. Some still choose to wear mask, many do not. Traveled farther upstate to visit family. Less compliance the farther you get away from nyc. There’s a whole big state outside of nyc where the citizens already decided they’re not obeying politicians’ orders. Suck it, Biden and Kathy Hochul.
ReplyDeleteAdams for the next 8 years LOL love it!!!!!!!! The good ol' boys club is back! His girlfriend is an EA at 173K. All these fake out of the classroom positions shall continue. Imagine making above 150K for not teaching? Only in NYC. Congrats to those who have obtained this status.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was an ATR I made $120,000 a year with very little teaching. It's not as uncommon as you think.
ReplyDeleteBut now that there are lots of people visiting ny from abroad, it might be prudent to wear one, at least till after the holiday season and make sure thetevis no impending spike.i don't believe bs numbers but I do know several people who got covid recently.so if I'm in nyc, I mask.yes, upstate is likely way better. Pondering if the challenge to biden's mandate will hold.if so, what might the implications for nyc be?
ReplyDelete622 is what we all need to aspire to be. If you are new, that should be your goal. We are not martyrs. Not worth giving up what you could possibly give up by ‘fighting the good fight’.
ReplyDeleteFamilies of NYC schools will never protest grade fraud.
I’ve been passing kids who can’t read for twenty years.
Also, I was an ATR and before this year, had a 10 year vacation as an ATR.
The first year where we rotated each week I read about 25 books. Ah, the good old ATR days.
12:34 you don't have a lot of ambition do you?
ReplyDelete9:30 you think $150k for not teaching is something to celebrate, and congratulate? You're not wrapped too tight.
ReplyDelete636,
ReplyDeleteAmbition and hard work are frowned upon in the doe. Time to grow up
The DOE is the end all, be all? What a sad existence. Maybe you should grow up.
DeleteDoes ambition for getting per session for useless doe programs to pump up my pension count? If so I am very ambitious.
ReplyDelete943,
ReplyDeleteAs long as you don’t do real work, that ambition is fine by me.
Can someone please explain to me how truly working hard is rewarded in the doe? I will clarify. I get in early, take no work home, plan during the day, get along w the kids, pass most of them, don’t complain much and get along with colleagues. Why should I work harder than I have to?
ReplyDeleteI ask because I am looking forward to hearing some of your bleeding heart answers as to how this job is a ‘calling’
12:42 who said anything about the job being a calling? How about working at all for $150k? Its a job for most, but if one is that miserable, they should leave. And God's sake stop publicly crowimg about getting away with doing nothimg for $150k year.
ReplyDelete540,
ReplyDeleteThat commenter said nothing about being miserable. To me, you sound like a typical holier then thou teacher lol
What’s real work, 10:24? If it’s following the school’s curriculum, policies and recommendations of administration, than I’m doing real work. Take it up with Tweed if this work is bad for kids. According to their policies and my school’s administration I’m highly effective in my teaching. Typical UFT leftists coming after fellow union members instead of going after the chancellor/oppressors who sanction it all.
ReplyDelete6:59 Nope not holier than thou at all. Just don't complain about certain people accepting hand-outs when you hypocrites are on here all day long bragging that you are getting taxpayer handouts because that's exactly what it is when you accept pay without work. No different than welfare. You should know, you're the Queen Bee of welfare queens.
ReplyDelete7:34 is the one who proclaims that she's a sell-out, kisses up to her Admin, and is a fraud by collecting pay for not teaching. She's tried to claim that "DOE policy" allows her to defraud her supervisors and make them think she's working when she's not. A narcissist who commits larceny day in, and day out but it's "Meisha's fault" or "Leftist"s fault". She claims she's "highly effective" because she pretends she's something she's not and runs around like her Admin's little pet selling out her colleagues. You're no fellow union member. You're a liar, and a fraud. Lol.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who shows up, doesn’t screw colleagues and doesn’t snitch is fine by me. Let’s call it what it is. The kids don’t care, so protect yourself.
ReplyDeleteLoser @ 8:05. More excuses for her fraudulent behavior.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we call each other out so much?
ReplyDeleteIf you want to be a martyr and fight the good fight, do it.
If you can get by doing the bare minimum and keep getting paid, fine with me, too!
Worry about yourself and enjoy life!
Unless it directly impacts you(hate to break it to you which it more times than not doesn’t, keep your head down, be nice to people, enjoy the time off and do your best.
Not my job to talk nonsense about others in the same union.
Do what you can do and enjoy life! Believe me, this job is so much better than jobs in the real world. You get paid every two weeks here. That doesn’t happen in all jobs! I have firsthand experience.
@3:52 uh, No. Maybe it's "anti-teacher" types who are on here lying to make teachers look bad because who in their right mind would get on a public blog and claim that they don't care about the kids, don't do anything, and brag about getting $150 to not teach. You've got to be some kind of wacko to do that, OR you're just trying to make teachers look bad. If your child is one of these classes I doubt you'd be so quick to excuse this behavior. In EVERY class there are always students who want to learn.
ReplyDeleteBut it's not about being a "martyr and fighting the good fight". Doing a job you are paid $150/yr to do is not "being a martyr". That's like going to a hospital for a procedure and nobody gives a fuck if you wake up from the anesthesia. They're just getting paid, doing their thing, living their life, and too bad for you. You'd sue their asses if something happened to you or one of your loved ones.
@441pm. Remember that some people are sociopaths. They come up with reasons for their behavior... kids don't want to learn parents don't care DOE doesn't care blah blah blah. They know precisely why everything is so shitty but they aren't the problem. Oh no. They go to their little town that isn't sufficient enough to support them and share stories about why people are on welfare. Pathetic.
ReplyDeleteSo
ReplyDeleteOption #1 be a martyr
Option #2 do the bare minimum
And hey "be nice to people".
How does this help our country?
Waiting,
ReplyDeleteI hear you, and I believe the way this system is set up that nothing we do as teachers is designed to help our country. Honestly, what are you going to do? You go in, do your best and try to stay out of hot water. That’s the doe! I sleep well knowing that I try to do the job for the ones who try. Personally, the ones who don’t I really don’t care about and don’t want to hear or care about the sob stories bc most of them are a work and book down to the kids or the families of the kid trying to play us.
I do exactly what I’m paid to do. You keep insisting I don’t work. I do. The problem is all my administrators care about is leftist ideology. As long as I speak their language they rate me highly effective. The democrat promoting leftist administration doesn’t care about teaching reading, writing, math etc. They rate teachers on their politics embedded in lessons. Some of us have figured out how to fool them. If the kids aren’t learning because I follow doe policy, take it up with Meisha. It’s her policy. She sanctions it all by allowing political activists to run schools. It’s the same argument over and over again. I fooled the woke fools and THAT is why you are so angry. Again, let me know when parents hold a rally or start a petition to stop Meisha’s policies. It’s not all Meisha’s fault. Richard, Carmen ….. other ineffective political ideologues left her a mess. But I have yet to hear parents complain. I’m a total liar and a fraud. That’s how this conservative Republican has them believing I’m an AOC democrat. But I teach EXACTLY what and in the way my woke administrators want me to teach so I’m doing my job.
ReplyDeleteAre you happy being a liar and a fraud and teaching lies to kids 11:07? Doesn't your dignity matter?
ReplyDelete1124,
ReplyDelete1107 is doing their job. What they are asked to do. Can’t fault anyone for that. The system is bigger than any one of us. 1107 is right. When parents rally about this nonsense, it will change. However, that day won’t come.
@1:30 - 11:07 is full of shit. She has claimed many times she doesn't work. Scoffs at the very idea. Has claimed that she has fooled administration into thinking she teaches. She's a fraud. The *only* reason she has now claimed that she teaches is because it was brought up that it is larceny and can be prosecuted. Since then she has changed her story 50 times. Now she's trying to claim that she has been ordered to teach "leftist ideology" which is just more bullshit. Fall for her bullshit if you want to, but some of us see right through her, which is not that hard to do because she was very explicit when she claimed to collect her $100K+ salary and doesn't teach a thing because she spends her day sitting in her Admin's comfy chair lying to them about what she really believes and does, while living a lie because that is the only way she can get an effective rating.
ReplyDeleteOne of 11:07's gems from another post:
ReplyDelete"I admitted I lied and convinced them I’m woke. That’s all they care about. I get highly effective from supervisors because of my politics. My teaching is irrelevant to them. I called myself a c - - t because you people are obsessed with name calling as if it means something. Call me whatever, just don’t call me late for dinner or fire Meisha. As long as dumb wokesters are in charge I keep riding the doe gravy train. I conned the woke and it’s driving you fellow wokesters nuts."
She's a fucking liar that she has to have "leftist policies" embedded in her lessons. She pulled that one right out of her ass, which must've been hard to do with her own head entrenched deep in there.
How much more proof does anyone need to see she is a liar and fraud, not to mention very low class who refers to herself as a c***, and then blames others for that despicable word even though she is the ONLY one to have used that word on this blog. Maybe she's just a troll because noone can be that much of a degenerate. She's convinced herself that people think she's disgusting because she "conned the woke". It's so stupid. LMAO.
"They rate teachers on their politics embedded in lessons." Is anyone stupid enough to believe this lie? I suspect that s/he might be a right-wing troll.
ReplyDelete(Concerned former NYCDOE employee) NYC'S school system problem is decades of Democrat dominance and the Republicans not being a solution but just another problem. New York City and NYCDOE will only get better with independents and / or Libertarians. Democrat NYC councils went along with Bloomberg.
ReplyDeleteTeachers should get together and document their experiences in detail with explanations for people outside of NYCDOE or other employees like former paras, so they can understand. It will be a lesson on the pitfalls of bureaucracy and might end up being read by influential people.
The NYCDOE itself is a bloated bureaucracy, which is expensive to run and monitor. Too much abuse gets swept under the rug. The larger the bureaucracy the greater the chance something gets hidden. The great chance for abuse. Same with a big corporation. Shrinking NYCODE could help, so I think taking some NYCDOE schools and turning them into not-for-profit charter schools is a good start. That will also liberate some schools from damaging NYCDOE mismanagement and give some teachers a place to escape to.
Democrat Eric Adams most likely won't change much about the NYCDOE that needs to be changed. Adams is and will be nothing more of a puppet of those who own the Democrat party. He was a puppet as a police officer, NYPD is a paramilitary organization, after all, so why would you think he'll shakeup NYCDOE? If anything is done it probably will be more of the same narrative of treating teachers as scapegoats. The low-hanging fruit phenomenon.
The power distance is too wide between city workers and city hall. We talk to deaf people that have no power and are there to waste our time or "engage" us to go along with what the Democrats had in store for us anyway. It's detrimental to our well being and the public school system. Because of this, ideas never go beyond what's promoted within the Democrat party and the corporate-backed mainstream media's voices of the elites.
I think the UFT needs to be replaced. They don't deserve the compulsory membership fees that they don't have to work for. The UFT has been in bed with NYCDOE.
ReplyDeleteAnother NYCDOE mess which isn't spoken about enough are the deep-state aspects of SCI and OSI that have no transparency and that the NYC public is generally unaware of, to begin with.
SCI and OSI have been used as a weapon to hurt public school staff, namely teachers, by NYCDOE principals. This wasn't the intended purpose of either SCI or OSI. At this point, both SCI and OSI should just be eliminated.
No one cares about those who have been wrongly embarrassed by allegations that were trumped up or were completely false to begin with. No one cares about those who couldn't find another education job because of SCI. I wonder how many people eventually killed themselves or succumbed to health problems created by stress related to allegations. SCI is part of NYCDOE corruption. Bloomberg set the trend and DeBlasio continued it. SCI works outside of the justice system and enjoys false legitimacy by using former NYPD detectives. SCI should be investigated thoroughly and eliminated with lessons learned for treating personnel more humanely.
Public school workers need protections from the damage done by rumors, spiteful co-workers, and lying students or SCI, and OSI also, will just continue to be weapons used to hurt NYCDOE employees. This hurt goes beyond them losing their job at their school and might follow them for the rest of their life if there is a court case from an employee trying to defend themselves using arbitration or some court solution, or if their name was mentioned in the paper. It's interesting that a political party that wants to call out the prison-industrial complex and over-policing, doesn't realize what they have in SCI, right under their noses. Democrats are phony anyway.
SCI has former NYPD police detectives from questionable mayoralties like Bloomberg and Gulliani. The fact that these detectives went along with the corruption at SCI makes me think there may be plenty of innocent people that have gone to jail because of them. Those SCI detectives know what corruption I mean, making up smear reports to paint the worst picture of an accussed employee. Corporal punishment was the most common allegation, with too broad a meaning that it could mean anything NYCDOE and SCI wanted it to mean just to get rid of employees and free budget space.
Think about that next time you play the game. Think about that next time you support the UFT, because that's another entity that needs to go. Think about that next time you play the game and vote Democrat. Think about that before you listen to someone tell you that people shouldn't complain because someone else has it worse.
Eric Adams.............I wish you were listening, but you'd probably think SCI is a trustworthy bureaucracy with honorable people.
