MULGREW KEEPS AGREEING TO SEND UFTERS INTO SCHOOLS WHEN HE KNOWS THE SAFETY SYSTEMS ARE COMPLETELY BROKEN

Today's NY1 appearance and email from Michael Mulgrew show for sure that nothing has changed with the UFT President since March of 2020. He is still willing to send his members and the children of NYC into what he knows are COVID-19 infested buildings.

From his latest email:

For more than a month, we have been warning the outgoing administration not to let the COVID-19 testing system and the situation room response fall into disarray during the transition at City Hall. Our warnings were not heeded, and the current surge proves the administration’s systems are not just in disarray, they are completely broken.

Then why do you not recommend that your members and the kids stay out of buildings you know are unsafe where they can easily catch COVID?

He is telling you that it is unsafe in the schools, that the testing system and situation room are completely broken but two paragraphs later he says if it isn't fixed by January 3, we will have a fight. On NY1, he even says COVID is "rampant in our school system."

What about tomorrow?

It is basically everyone for themselves according to Mulgrew.

My advice: Stay the hell home Thursday if you don't feel it is safe. Fail the health screening and go get a Covid Test if you can find one and be out on the DOE's dime.

Educators of NYC asked this yesterday:

Today we learned the answer.

Below is a picture of Mulgrew speaking from the comfort of his living room this morning on NY 1 saying we can wait until January to do anything even though Omicron is spreading now. Compare the Mulgrew background to the photo of Aviation High School Chapter Leader-United for Change High School Executive Board candidate Ibeth Mejia who is working at her school.

The full Mulgrew email:

Dear _____,

We should be celebrating the start of winter break. Instead, the city has once again put us in an extremely difficult position. Educators are doing their job in New York City public schools. The city, however, is failing.

President Biden said on Dec. 21 that schools must remain open. Mayor de Blasio sits at his press conferences and pretends everything is okay. The city and the federal government cannot keep saying they are giving us everything we need to keep schools open, because they have not.

For more than a month, we have been warning the outgoing administration not to let the COVID-19 testing system and the situation room response fall into disarray during the transition at City Hall. Our warnings were not heeded, and the current surge proves the administration’s systems are not just in disarray, they are completely broken.

Our school buildings should not open in January if we don’t have a plan in place to keep each school community safe. We always do our jobs; it’s time to make sure elected officials do theirs.

We need an effective infrastructure to monitor and manage COVID-19 in our schools, and we need it now. We must rely not only on what has worked in the past, but on what our doctors and medical experts are telling us will work for this brand new moment in time.

Today I made it clear: If we don’t see an acceptable safety program for our entire school system up and running by January, we should not open.

I wanted my holiday message to be a heartfelt thank you for all the work you continue to do, not a message about how the city must do better. But here we are. You continue to be the ones who step up for our children, even in these unprecedented times, even when there are no answers to be found. You are a bright spot in their lives. For that, I can’t thank you enough. You are truly the city’s heroes.

Sincerely,

Michael Mulgrew

UFT President

  1. No other municipal union leader would write such a soft letter. Terms like "job actions," "sickouts," "strike" etc would be mixed in. Unfortunately, it'll take years after Mulgrew's departure (sooner than later) to find out how dirty business was done. Hopefully ,his personal and union finances will be investigated by the feds.

    2. The cointelpro program was only uncovered because people invaded a building and found the files by accident

  2. Mulgrew has been in self denial and crying wolf too many times. How can anyone actually believe that adequate testing is being performed at schools—when there continues to be a scarcity of testing sites with multi hour waits for people in NYC. This has been a total failure of Biden, Cuomo/Hochul and DeBlasio as they have broken their promise when it comes to test readiness. Their grade has been ineffective bordering on developing.
    Good luck to Mayor-Elect Adams.

  3. Oh everything is so easy for James sitting at home. Just close the schools. Easy peasy. I'm voting for Mulgrew. He deals with the real world.

    1. 742 James' family is in public schools, and unlike your boy Mulgrew, James is fighting for the people who aren't sitting in their homes. Please join us in the real world, not this fantasy land that Mulgrew pretends exists. Vote for Change!

  5. @7:42 Here is you man Mulgrew.
You deserve his incompetent, corrupt leadership if you vote for him.
Mulgrew has been pimping for de Blasio for the last eight years.

  6. I can’t take anything he says seriously- even more in this video bc he’s…not in a f%#£ing school building but looks like he’s comfy at home not surrounded by a crowd of untested humans.

  7. In other words we will be open and we will blame the transition process for any disarray.

  8. A High School Senior in a Charter School in Philadelphia died of Covid. She wasn't vaccinated yet. The faculty pleaded with the principal to let the school go remote due to Covid cases in the school but she refused and they said the school wasn't following safety protocols. They staged a sickout today in retaliation. The girl was perfectly healthy. I think someone is going to have to be the scapegoat in NYC for Mulgrew and the mayor to learn. I also like how Mulgrew said in his letter that if safety protocols are not put in place by January he will insist that we should not go in. Not insist that we will not go in.

  9. I know it isn't possible, but I think parents should be charged with child endangerment or neglect if they refuse to let their children get vaccinated.

  10. If the schools are so safe of Covid, Mayor Adams— you are invited to have your Inauguration in the Auditorium or lunchroom of any public school building on January 3. And reserve a front row seat for Michael and outgoing DeBlasio

  11. If Mulgrew really gave two shits about teachers he would be in the schools right now helping out with the remaining teachers who are still in the buildings. However, we all know he is a big coward who only cares about himself and the money that he collects from our dues. True leaders lead by example. He is a pussy and everybody knows it. Can't wait to vote his ass out.

    1. 545. The DPRK would glady eliminate any fascists. They are the enemy of the left... but i have a feeling you got that whole thing backwards. Also, in case you like knowing things, there is no vaccine mandate in the DPRK.

Saying a mandate in and of itself equals fascism is a very poor way of defining both terms. Court appointed lawyers are mandated to serve clients.. is this fascism? Be more specific about the condition you are addressing. This is a mandate that creates a new condition of employment. Should we have those? Should they be based on medical/physical conditions for certain jobs? That is where the debate is to be found. Not just flinging around terms that cannot be applied consistently.

  15. Covid is so weird.

Question: I tested positive and test of my family got tested yesterday and is negative(everyone vaccinated).

Is it harder for vaccinated to spread to vaccinated than unvaccinated to vaccinated ? If so, then we need to start mandating vaccines for all that are eligible.

    It’s ridiculous now!

  16. Test not very reliable as per the designer of the test who stayed it should not be used to diagnose covid.

    ReplyDelete
  17. No...if the vaccinated only have mild symptoms, they dismiss them and assume it isn't covid.then they spread it.If supposedly unvaccinatef are harder hit, they are more likely to test and would be more bed ridden and therefore less likely to spread it.

  18. Fauci, Gates and many others are now being brought up on charges for crimes against humanity in international court.the document is 46 pages.Reuters calls it fake news, so I won't post a link.you can google it.time will tell if it is true.it is long overdue.

  19. The standard covid tests don't test for variants. that testing is done at specialty labs.(as per my doctor's office).

  20. Good point @8:24. Many people assume it's not COVID on no basis whatsoever.

  22. Yes, and the test shows rna.i believe this is why the infamous cruise line(was it Diamond Princess?)published a rebuttal in their defense against articles that said swabs detected virus on objects.
We need a more accurate test that is processed fairly.i believe that people who knowingly board an airline knowing they have symptomatic covid should be criminally charged and put on a no fly list. But it isn't fair to cancel people's flights when there is no known exposure, no symptoms, and repeated negative tests just because of one faulty test.the system is broken.
