  1. UFT Unity allowing the Mayor to lift NYC school mask mandates next week while less than 60% of kids are vaccinated and many staff are at increased risk is a moral and leadership failure. You’ve abandoned your members and our kids. Shame on you.

In other news, Unity will win the election via landslide numbers.

  2. You missed the fact that he ended the segregation policy called the “Key to NYC” too. Rip up those cards and delete the app!

  3. The Black man endangering the lives of Black and Brown children for White Plague Spreaders. How nice.

But then, this is Clown Cop Mayor Adams. So, no surprise. https://t.co/gEwgiKUTDc

  4. James, how do you allow racist and scientifically illiterate comments like 8:58’s?
Unless I’m missing their sarcasm and poor taste in humor.

We all spread it whether vaxxed or not and whether white or not.
721, you are not much better. Kids have been fine and don’t want your useless mandates.

Both of you should cash out your Moderna stocks since it already dropped 70% of its peak value.

  5. 8:58 is a bonafide racist troll comment. Probably some white moron who could care less about black and brown children.

  6. Does the removal of vaccine mandates mean that unvaccinated teachers and police will be able to return? Does anyone know?

    1. It is not removed for employment, only for entry to places.

    2. Not sure. Other cities are taking them back and offering the test option. Wonder if NYC will follow?

  7. I will be very happy to go maskless in school and no longer have to show my health screening. I think this has been long overdue. Those of you who feel better wearing a mask, then continue to do so. I am sure that my school will have plenty of staff and students who still wear a mask.

  8. Our union should immediately poll members on what they want, and then move according to the majority result. Of course, with current leadership, that type of democratic process will not happen. Another reason to vote them out this spring.

  9. Time to move on from covid. We have to live with it.

We all have had it or will get it or had it and didn’t know we had it.

Remove the masks. Heck, in my room, I don’t fight the masks under the noses anymore. I just can’t.

    Go live your life!

  10. There is nobody saying you can't still wear your mask if you want. If you really think it protects you, it will still work. Personally I'm glad to be finally ditching these oxygen stealers.

  11. As always, Mulgrew will say it's a win that was fought for by the UFT even though he had nothing to do with it.

  12. I think it’s time, however, if you want to wear the mask, that’s your choice.

When San Francisco has had enough, it’s enough!

  13. Interesting to note the city positivity rate for the 7day average was 1.7 a few days ago, 1.8 over the weekend, and 1.9 as of today...

  14. The PLANdemic been over, wake up!!!!! All you bubble living scared liberals where 5 masks, don't care! Resign if you cannot handle it 3 years later!!!! Unvaxxed teachers better be allowed back by september latest. Keep taking boosters until your blood clots, it's over!!!!! Almost like chances Eterno's have against the rigged establishment.

    LMAO. So true.

  16. I didn't agree with Anon at first because we still lose about 2,000 Americans a week, but then he used all those exclamation points instead of logical ones...

  17. Science deniers. Your vaccinated self can give me covid just like the unvaccinated. So you better triple mask to keep me safe.. My vaccine isn't enough. I need you to continue to believe everything cnn told you so I can keep smoking and eating greasy food. It's all on you. Don't ask me to keep myself safe. It's better if you put in all the effort.

  18. Don’t look now—positivity rate was 1.65% yesterday and up to 1.93% today (Tuesday)—in New York State—not sure about NYC. But still—although its much lower compared to mid January—the number moved in the wrong direction—so don’t let your guard down. Use your common sense.

  19. Thar he blows @Anon2323. Still having your public meltdowns, eh Anon. There's a reason why nobody wants you unvaccinated folks to return - some of you are rightwing nutjobs who don't need to be anywhere near inner city students. Boo hoo. But I'd bet money you're not one of those who took a stand and didn't get vaccinated. Hypocrite.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hey Anon - why should we resign? We're good. We're working and getting paid. Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, nobody cares. No amount of unmasking is going to cure your toxicity and paranoia.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @12:30 why should I care if you keep yourself safe or not. I know your post is nothing but lame sarcasm, but noone's going to triple mask so that you can be safe. Smoke, eat greasy food, and stay stupid.

If you choose to live in fear, I respect that, however, others want to not live in fear.

Please respect the choices we have and stop fear mongering using fake data.

  23. Check out the MORE caucus thoughts on lifting the mask mandate

Annie Tan #WeKeepUsSafe: just feel so damn defeated as a teacher right now. Thinking of the NY teachers who are weighing leaving the profession next week because we just found out the mask mandate ends March 7th. More than half our students aren't fully vaccinated. I'm so damn tired.

James and others at UFC, why are you allied with such delusional, hypochondriac sheep!

Does Annie really think teachers are going to leave the profession because masks are optional?
Someone please get her a social emotional screener ASAP!

    1. 1047 People are leaving due to the failure of our union. The latest failure to poll members on masking, and then push the majority decision, will be another thing to add to the list.

Thank you Annie for speaking for UFTers, something the Unity caucus will never do.

Vote for Change. United for Change.

  24. Do you even read the articles you cite?

"...these results highlight the continued importance of layered protections, including mask wearing, for children to prevent infection and transmission,” the public health officials wrote in the study."

    ReplyDelete
  25. The stupid people are the ones who think the vaccinated can’t transmit or contract the virus and that masks keep the teeny weeny virus from getting through. The paranoid think we should force vax kids who are healthy. Luckily the parents in many nyc neighborhoods are telling you all to go fuck yourselves and refusing to vax their kids. Democrats don’t have the intestinal fortitude to handle parents with balls. The black and brown people of the Outer boroughs and the whites of STaten Island are done listening to your vaccine bullshit.

  26. And more:

Pfizer Vax Weaker in Young Kids; Still Recommended

New York health officials released a preprint study showing the Pfizer vaccine does not prevent coronavirus infection as effectively in children ages 5 to 11 years as it does in older kids, teens, and adults. "However, vaccination of children 5-11 years was protective against severe disease and is recommended," the authors report. An immunologist tells the New York Times that because the data showed 12-year-olds got better results from the vaccine, and because older kids receive triple the dosage, "it would almost suggest that it's the dose that makes the difference. The question is how to fix that."

  27. There were roughly as many Covid deaths yesterday as there were daily during April of 2020. The science and metrics haven’t changed. Only the politics have.

    ReplyDelete
  28. James, why do you put so much faith in bureaucrats? How does anyone still 100% fully believe public health officials at this point?
Do you ever criticize Big Pharma funded institutions and individuals?

    ReplyDelete
  29. 1047 here, James, you miss the point completely here as you often do with COVID. You are great on other union issues though.

The kids are generally fine with COVID. We’ve known this since last summer. Annie freaking out about unvaxxed kids supposedly needing everyone in masks is absurd. She can triple mask all she wants. Most kids and parents want to breathe freely. We don’t need her to save the children by supporting mask or vaccine mandates.

There are perfectly valid reasons for NYC families to decline a largely unnecessary vaccine for their children.

If their children were obese or diabetic or 70 years old, that’s a different risk factor.

Informed consent requires weighing risks and benefits and not blindly following propaganda.

And, for the record, I have never had a problem with a student not wearing one.

  35. 9:41 are you even working? Or were you too much of a hypocrite to take a stand and refuse the vaccine? People aren't going to take off because of the masks, they'll take the day because they can. And you? You'll just be online screeching about nothing at all.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What's the use of taking Monday off? You will staff have to go back Tuesday. It won't be any different.
