NIH STUDY SHOWS MANDATORY MASKING IN SCHOOLS LOWERED INFECTIONS

Some don't want to talk COVID any longer but this NIH study is something we should all keep in mind as we try to keep airborne diseases under control.

  1. Pfizer just announced a 4th shot is necessary.

  2. We got bigger fish to fry right now and it is not about Covid. James, have you alerted the press that Mulgrew has refused to debate your wife? Might want to get in touch with The Chief as well. This is really big news if you ask me. The last time that Mulgrew refused to debate in the UFT election it made the NY Post newspaper. (Or the Daily News, I forgot which one)

  3. Totally agree. Insisting on making this about Covid and masking will hurt any potential impact UFC will make.

  4. The masking study is news. It is not a United for Change ad.

Post has been alerted on Mulgrew ducking debate.

  5. Good news James. Glad you were able to get in touch with the Post. They love mud slinging educational stories and this one is a biggie.

  6. LA KEEPS MASK MANDATE-ANOTHER FAILURE OF MULGREW TO STAND UP FOR US AND NOT JUST BE A PUPPET FOR THE NYC MAYOR. HE NEEDS TO GO NOW.

  7. Yikes another likely badly done study. Why did we or don't we know have some good studies. At this point we will never agree. Oh well.

The sudden dropping of masks is strange if those in power really felt it helps.

We can still wear masks when around elderly, those getting chemo, recent transplant etc.

Hopefully this is done with a not a cloth mask. Use a level 3 or well fitting N95 just like they do at Sloan.
Please don't just use it to signal you are pretending to protect others. If sick just don't visit them or really assume you do have covid.

Follow the link to this study. Too similar to other sloppy non RCT observations.

Bangladesh study, recent Spanish study were much better done yet still pretty flawed.

Kids and masks just don't help much that can be measured.

I'd guess it's due to being worthless cloth, worn poorly and just too long in the same room. It's tough enough for medical staff to do it correctly.

It has always been about air exchange, vaccines and just staying home if feeling sick and test....and outside is so safe just stop with masks.

WHO and most of the world was correct. They have scientists too what makes US policies so different with masking young children and outdoors?

I hate to have to add this, but yes I always used US made level 2 or 3 surgical masks even weeks before NYC schools closed. So I'm not "one of the others" I was actually sent home for asking to wear a mask at school. This was before we finally decided to close to figure things out. I was cool with that. I just wasn't comfortable with the unknown and my personal risk tolerance at that time.

I'm an stage 4 survivor so had cases of good surgical and N95 at home and fear to always keep on well. Kids just didn't wear well at all

I assumed they wouldn't help much but all we had besides open windows.

Too much propaganda on vax and mask side and total nutty idea in anti masks and vax.

There is apparently honest sci disagreement about masks but good data isn't there still for either side.

Look at the 1st reply on the referenced stu

Contact tracing policy for masked students may be an important confounding variable
We worry that a policy which does not consider masked transmission in schools makes the study a self-fulfilling prophecy: the expected result is lower identified secondary transmission rates in masking districts simply due to this policy. If contact tracers discount the possibility of in-school transmission because a student was masked, as the CDC instructs; even if this only occurs in some schools, that would be sufficient to cloud the entire study’s results

  8. Masking children is child abuse. Can’t vote for panicking leftists.

    ReplyDelete
  9. And what would you call killing their parents and grandparents?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Geesh, James, You just can’t give it up. It’s getting sad at this point.

Focus on the election. Not how pathetically afraid you are.

  11. CHILD ABUSE!!! MASKING 2-5 YEAR OLDS ARE SICK!!!!

If masks work so well they would enforced schools to use during flu season past 40 years.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 1. Any ignorant repeated description of recent mask wearing as child abuse is an affront to real victims of child abuse. Why not protest Halloween as well?
    2. If masks work so well, why aren't they used by surgical teams and medical staff who deal with infectious diseases? Oh wait...
    3. Arguing against vaccine mandates has validity, but wearing a piece of fabric on one's face is a minor inconvenience for 99% of the population with the allowance for medical exemptions.

  13. Nearly 3 years of political science and pooffffffff its gone like a fart in the wind.
Once the new Russia/Ukraine news of Russia killing Neo-nazis running Ukraine as well as bombing US biolabs. THE PANDEMIC IS OVERRRRRRRR. WHERE IS DR MORON FAUCI????

James and the lunatics on here in support of masks that do not work. Let's do logic the cloth and blue masks have an 80 micron opening. The virus is 1 micron, hmmmmmmmm its going to get through.

Lets never forget Cuomo who was praised as a saint and how well he did was an atrocious governor, lost us billions. He abused women and worse he murdered thousands of the elderly by pushing sick people in to inflate covid numbers and scare people. So disgusting, he should be in prison with Fauci.

    1. 732. No, that's not how it works. The problem, as usual with your logic, is that it never holds up.

  14. Oh no, Cuomo abused women. Yeah, he touched someone on the shoulder the wrong way, 30 years ago. You're certifiable Anon2323. Funny, but certifiable. If they should be in prison, you should be in the psych ward.

  15. 11:37 - they conveniently forget that small detail. Republicans wanted to OFF the elderly. They claimed they've lived their lives, let the rest of society live theirs. Sick shit, but now dimwits like Anon2323 want to pretent they care about the elderly at all. Get lost.

  16. Wishful thinking if you believe the pandemic is over. Numbers in Hong Kong are through the roof over the past several weeks and China is locking down some provinces—just like they did in the winter of 2020. In Europe the numbers have been inching upward—especially with the lifting of safety measures. Just hope that the this new subvariant is mild like the last one but it’s probably already here in the United States. Bottom line— just get vaccinated and boostered to keep safe—especially the 34% that still have not raised their arm.

  17. The numbers in China will never be as high as the US. When you tell people to wear a mask in China they wear a mask. They also won't fight back against lock downs.

  18. 7:57, thanks for the 100% verifiable always true CCP data as well as that Pfizer promo at the end of your post.

I’ll do you one better; an actual quote from Albert Bourla, “a Greek-American veterinarian and the chairman and chief executive officer of Pfizer.

“ He said a fourth dose — that is, a second booster — is necessary “right now.”

“The protection that you are getting from the third, it is good enough, actually quite good for hospitalizations and deaths,” he said, according to a CBS News transcript. “It’s not that good against infections, but doesn’t last very long.”

Bourla said he expects a COVID booster to become an annual occurrence, much like the flu shot, and added that Pfizer is working on a vaccine that offers even better protection.”

Just in time for UFT contract negotiations! Roll your sleeves up for Adams and Eterno!

  19. Yikes still angry posts. We don't need to agree. 2yrs in and nothing super clear but we all work together in schools no matter what. This should unite us some?

I only posted about data showing cloth mask and masks on young to help focus on what really helps us.

No idea why people latch onto junk cloth masks or low quality surgical with giant gaps on kids and adults faces. Heck even the junk k95 that don't fit many faces and giant gap around the nose.

We now can buy ones that fit. Order them now to have them for when the next wave or fall 2022.

    I'll choose to:
    - only wear good level 3 masks at a min, - keep all windows open,
    -3 HEPAs in our room
    - Staying home if sick, tests if symptoms
-...and know the reality is I can get covid at anytime.

I'm vaccinated and fine with working with those not. I've done all I can.

I've stopped wearing masks in class except when working with sick children 1-1.

I'm frustrated by sloppy studies distracting from what really helps.

Yes the fabric filters great of course. As everyone knows it's about how it is worn.

Kids are not surgeons. Many don't mind wearing them but those wet non fitting masks don't have good data yet they help.

We all are in this together like it or not.

We've all ve vaccinated and exposed pretty much. Way way less risk so no benefit to be so angry at those that disagree.

I love working with my colleagues. The union and DOE is a mess of bad leadership. That said, I'm greatful to try to help make my school not be a mess.

I'm glad to see data and ideas that are the opposite of mine here. I'm happy to be wrong and change my mind.

  20. Tish James is a lying pos who conspired against Cuomo. I may hate the guy but he was framed by James and other lefty democrats. But Anon2323 isn't off base. He's just repeating Tish James' lies. Something all the democrats have been doing all along. Anon is just reminding us of the democrats standard of guilty til proven innocent. If Cuomo on primary ballot he's got my vote. But the republican gets my vote in Nov.

  21. We are all but an experiment. I will continue to wear my mask. I will observe the rate of infection as many take the masks off. Wearing a mask is not a guarantee won't get covid, but it adds a layer of protection. Research is showing that asymptomatic covid cases may develop longer term heart and lung issues which won't be revealed til older.

  22. A study funded by the NIH lol this is getting comical

  23. Thank you 12:14.
As one my friends said, we wear our masks while watching the canaries in the coal mine.
    Regards.
