I have been calling in comments for an end to the Electoral College and a one person=one vote election system. It was nice to read a Tweet from Bernie Sanders on the issue.
I agree wholeheartedly with Bernie. One update: As they tabulate more votes, Biden is now leading by almost 5 million popular votes. As these are mailed in ballots, I see the lead growing as more ballots are counted. I would be embarrassed if I was Donald Trump to argue that it was a fraudulent election.
If the Democrats stuffed the ballot boxes, they did a lousy job as there were plenty of votes that were for Biden for President and then for Republicans for Congress and local positions. Was that all part of the plan?
Go to court if you like Donald but this will go nowhere and does nothing for the country.
Trump is losing by tens of thousands of votes in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Nevada. It's over MAGAs.
ReplyDeleteIt is over for black employment too
ReplyDelete@10:13 pm ..
DeleteDo you mean the low wage, essential-worker type employment that put me and my family in danger? That's fine. You can keep it. Welfare is good enough. Now folks can just stay in bed or go for a walk--like Teacher Joe. The stress of possibly getting Covid is too much. The lack of a quality education is the wheel that has taken its toll on people for generations (not just for 20 years). Ask Joe, he knows how it feels to be treated poorly.
If that’s true what are you afraid of. Let’s take a look at the court cases, see if there was actual fraud. If not we all can get behind the winner of the election joe Biden. Goody should want these investigations more than joe Biden. He will be seen by legitimate by most of the country. Btw once the election is certified I willl be rooting for Biden to be a great president and I will support him where I can. Something that was not granted to President trump from day one.
ReplyDeleteAlso be aware all of these state legislatures are controlled by Republicans and they are the ones that certify the electoral slate. If these issues are not heard by the courts in a fair way, they will be under a lot of pressure to not certify the results. Then it goes to the house where each state delegation gets one vote. A majority of the state delegations are controlled by Republicans.
Remember the sayif. “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch”? DEMS would be smart to remember that
There was fraud. Just not sure how much.
ReplyDeleteRead what I said, "Go to court Donald if you like." This not going to the House. The legislature's are not overthrowing anything. The lawsuits are ridiculous so far. I watched part of Hannity tonight. Trump electors are not going to be sent in states that Biden won. If you have more than 5 million more votes than your opponent, you will win. The ugliness you will see during a pandemic if courts, legislatures or the House step in I do not want to contemplate. Please just accept it and fight it out in Georgia over the Senate runoffs.
ReplyDeleteAl Gore was losing by around 500 votes in one deciding state, Florida. Trump is down by tens of thousands in three states and no butterfly ballots like in Florida in 2000. The best you have is poll watchers weren't allowed close enough. Forget it, it's over.
ReplyDeleteJames, you know that isn't all. States have already gone from no fraud to no widespread fraud. How much fraud is ok? If they need to find enough to swing the election they will likely be out of luck. To say there was no fraud is disingenuous.
ReplyDeleteFraud. Donald always yells fraud if he doesn't get his way. During his debate with Hilary he tossed out fraud.
DeleteHe won then, so obviously there was no fraud
Fraud failed in Georgia.
Let's just have another election. When did the fraud begin 2016? 2018? 2020?
Why didn't Donald fix the fraud during his presidency? He is all powerful. He said it himself: Only I can fix problems. Didn't he know he was going to run for re-election?
Donald has psychological problems. What's sad is how powerful his voice is. When we see children running with scissors, we are supposed to stop them. Hello B-^ches...he's running with scissors.
Trump on course to lose by about 5 million votes—will Donald also claim that this number includes 3 million illegal immigrants that voted for Biden—the same way they voted for Hillary.
ReplyDeleteEnough fraud to turn over tens of thousands of votes in each of Pa, Ga and Wis? No way.
ReplyDeleteTrump and Giuliani are Roy Cohn disciples. Make tons of allegations with little or no real evidence and hope something sticks. It worked for a while for Joe McCarthy. It eventually failed then and will fail now.
ReplyDeleteSo Jeff—no fraud, widespread fraud, total fraud—if it’s true in any of those scenarios—it’s on both sides. But Donald wants a one sided conversation—where it has to be fraud in the states he has lost or behind. And Georgia will have a recount—but Donald is behind by 11,000.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/i/status/1325920565509709825
ReplyDeleteFraud?
but there was some fraud
ReplyDelete@11:47 pm...whatever helps you sleep at night. It's over. A wrap. The sun has set on idiocy. Hatred. Bullying. Be Good (wtf was that). Boogaloos. Proud Boys. MAGA. Move on. He is still the president but the jellyfish is running around bitching and moaning about himself. Why is he playing golf when the Covid cases continue to climb? That's why so many people voted his arce out. He's only for Donald. Truth be told many people think the real kicker for Donald is the fact that Pres Obama served 2x. Rofl. It's killing him.
DeleteReminds of my loss for Class President back in the 4th grade. I won the popular vote by 3–but Mrs. Snorkle said my competitor, Donna Fishbein was the winner because she won the Class Electoral Vote—since there were 5 less girls less boys in the class. So, big deal, I was named Vice President. Too bad my school didn’t have a Student Supreme Court.
ReplyDelete@11:49pm...
DeleteYou should continue to fight. Call 7 on your side. Call Tucker. Call up the Proud boys (they are standing down at the moment). Have you considered contacting the toothless and confused Guilani? I think You should fight that injustice. Attica Attica

Not surprised Bernie and the far left would call for an end to the the Electoral College.
ReplyDeleteKind of surprised he’s not calling for the abolition of private property.
Gonna be nutty, might as well be full nutty.

Donald criminal and baby-like nutty?
I can't get this song out of my head, "you're about to lose your job".
At least nobody’s trotting out the laughable Russia Collusion canard again. A few folks have opined that if Russia didn’t influence this election perhaps they didn’t influence last election (and that whole Russian Scare was yet another Dem/Media hoax).
ReplyDeleteFalse allegation? Like 4 years of Russia bullshit?
ReplyDelete@645...
DeleteBullshit. Like birther?
Bi%^h can dish it but can't take it. Puh-lese. Maga is done. The people have spoken. 75 million. Come on have some dignity.
I will never understand why people hate Trump so much. Anyone is free to dislike or like his policies. I rarely hear teachers at school or other democrat friends refer to Trump's policies. They usually refer to what they heard or read on social media or television about what someone said that Trump said.
ReplyDeleteReferring to his work as President, what has Trump done that has hindered your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? I think Cuomo and DeBlasio are corrupt, immoral, egomaniacs who have hindered our right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness: both are pro-abortion and pro euthanasia, lockdowns, increasing crime rates, limited capacity at church, high taxes, riots and looters permitted, defunding the people who are supposed to keep us safe, I no longer go into the City or downtown Brooklyn for fear of the rioters and looters.
Yet, I do not hate these men. They are simply misguided. They simply do not understand the long term implications of what they are doing to others and for themselves.
The hate, venom, violence, cruelty, social-media hypnotized society, stomp your foot, cancel culture, totalitarian views and beliefs of the Trump haters should worry us all.
7:02 am...
DeleteAre you okay? Have you just awoken? Do you have access to any other adults? Blink twice if you need help.
On the positive side, Biden’s not leaning towards abolishing the electoral college but has appointed a Covid working group - to great acclaim in the press.
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion is a universal mask (not ‘face covering’) mandate for all folks over 70 and a complete lock down at all senior residences. Protecting the vulnerable.
So far Biden hasn’t taken any questions (tough or otherwise) since his victory celebration three nights ago.
@James Eterno "With little or no evidnece?" Whether or not the Court overturns anything should it get that far, is one matter. But for you to just so rapidly dismiss the idea of evidence of corruption, some of which has ALREADY been verified? ---some which is still being gathered in order to present? Your head is buried in the sand. But what else would I expect from a Bernie supporter. LOL
ReplyDelete@8:14 am
DeleteCount the votes
Don't count the votes
Sounds like someone is either suffering post covid brain or is just a whining sore butt loser. It's over. Turn out the lights when when you leave. Be Best. Sayonara. 75 million. Donald has y'all spinning foaming and spiraling.
I watched part of Hannity last night. The evidence of massive fraud to overturn Ga, Pa, and Wisc is nonexistent. It is Republicans running the election in Arizona, Philly and Georgia. They're all on on it? Trump is now losing Pa by more votes than he won in 2016. The Dems may have cried Russia but when the math wasn't there, Hillary at least conceded. Go with Rudy and Bernie Kerik on their wild fishing expedition. How many cases have already been dismissed for lack of evidence? I think it is already over a dozen.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 7:02. ... what policies?
ReplyDeleteTrump, LOSER!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYOU'RE FIRED DONALD!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteanonymous 8:14. ... receipts?
ReplyDeleteWatching the MAGAS here and at other sites spread their bullshit is almost as satisfying as winning the election. You lost. Now get over it like you told us to do in 2016.
ReplyDeleteTrump knew what we were up against with COVID-19 and blew it.That's mainly why he lost. The Woodward tape of what Trump said about the seriousness of COVID-19 in February when he was telling us it was nothing to worry about says it all. Then, encouraging states to open up way too early created a COVID-19 spike in the summer when it could have been slowed considerably. Oh and of course the masks.
ReplyDeleteTo continue, more jobs were created in Obama's second term than Trump's only term. Providing stimulus when it was not needed with the tax cuts for the rich that caused my taxes to go up (loss of SALT and Misc deductions) just led to more inequality. By pursuing policies that enrich Jeff Bezos and the Walton family even more did not help the nation or Trump's working class followers.Creating more low wage jobs hasn't lifted the working classes much and fighting to take away their healthcare does not improve anything nor does endless war which Trump didn't end.
Trump's judicial appointments have one thing in common: they side with corporations, not workers. Working people were not empowered under Trump and his education policy was just to throw as much money as DeVos could get away with to charter schools and private schools. Oil prices were falling in Obama's second term too. Throwing out the accepted rules of how a president should act is just a little more on his record and of course there is the Charlottesville racist statement. Remember, good people on both sides. He said plenty of other things that were embarrassing.
I could go on but I will stop. You know I am no big Obama fan, particularly on education where he was a disaster. I didn't forget Race to the Top or Obama applauding the mass firing of teachers in Rhode Island. Education and labor are the two areas where Biden may just do better than Trump or Obama. Very low bar. Oh yeah and the pandemic.
The long-time Trump plan to steal Pennsylvania and why it may still work even if Biden "wins"
ReplyDeleteOn Politics: The G.O.P. Lines Up Behind Trump - NYT Nov. 10, 2020
Who are the election thieves?
[Posted Nov. 6, reposted Nov. 10, 2020]. Since I published this the story has grown over the weekend with the idea of delay, delay, delay. Keep watching Pennsylvania. I wasn't celebrating on Saturday like so many because I never pre-count unborn chickens. Last Friday, Nov. 6, I posted a summary of the long-term plan to steal the election by delaying the certification until December when electors are supposed to meet and giving the Republican legislatures in states Biden won a chance to choose a Trump slate of electors. The cutting of postal services last spring was a major plank, along with creating doubt about mail-in ballots. Since Friday the story has grown, with 60 Minutes and Brian Lehrer doing segments on the idea that Republican legislatures (Penn, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona) can appoint pro-Trump electors - they actually just have to do this in a few states to win. And half the country will back them.] Follow the bouncing ball at:
https://ednotesonline.blogspot.com/2020/11/the-long-time-trump-plan-to-steal.html
I would not automatically consider popular vote given the divides in this country. SOme form of federalism is important. If California is removed Trump wins so we can't give so much power to one state. I sort of like congressional districts or better proportional rep. Thus if you get 60% of the vote you get 60% of electors assigned to your state which is based on population. Winner take all is the culprit. Just like it is in the UFT elections.
ReplyDeleteIt ain't happening, Norm. The legislatures are not overturning the votes in any state Counts are not that close. Trump lost. Majority of country understands that. Keep the conspiracies going, though.
ReplyDeleteJoe here,
ReplyDeleteSorry I started such a storm yesterday. Almost 10 AM, still in bed. About to make ann egg sandwich and a cup of coffee. I'm tired. Unfortunately, the chancellor said attendance doesnt count si not much I can do. I will still fail everyone because attendance counts to me. I read the chancellor wants to now choose valedictorians based on effort? Or integrity? That's interesting. Is it legitimate? No. Who cares? These are forever minimum wage workers. I'm gonna take the advice and take up golf. It will be a good relaxation tool. I finally learned not to fight a lost cause. Dow up 115. Jim Cramer said tech stocks will have a few bad days due to the vaccine news. I guess he thinks we will be able to retirn to school soon. If that happens, students will continue to no show and be expected to pass. Does now up 145. Nasdaq down about the same. Cnbc reports 130k covid cases yesterday. Glad I'm safe at home. I guess mulgrew, de blasio and carranza don't give a shit about the wonderful staff. I knew that. Fox is talking about "crossfire hurricane." Looks interesting. I'll check in later. And I brought up welfare because it's all I see when I go to work. I actually did the work, BA, MA, great record, paid uft dues and time dues and found out I was being played for a fool.
Norm's post is correct but I like James don't see it happening. Steve Bannon is actively encouraging this route. Nonetheless the spineless "go along to get along" RINO's, even if there was an "open and shut" case detailing massive irregularities and fraud enough to change the outcome, would still capitulate. They're not dissimilar to Unity in that respect. I would like to point out to the few other right-of-center compatriots I have on here that in my home state, PA, this whole cheat-by-mail scheme was approved last year, before the virus, by the Republican State Assembly and Senate, and then Wolf signed it. Of course I'm disappointed with the result but there's a lot of blame to go around it is not just the fraud and more broadly the systematic rigging (which is true but not illegal). I hope you guys here who are true left and not just establishment D will at least hold a Biden administration's feet to the fire especially as it pertains to education. I unfortunately foresee a John King type being installed as Ed Secretary.
ReplyDelete@joe...
ReplyDeleteThe entertainer. You do have your fans. You did the work and it ONLY took them 20 years to beat down your spirit? That's all? 20 years of disrespect and you were at your breaking point? I thought you were stronger than that. I mean you have a BA,MA yet you are the new face of welfare.
Also, You're in bed and tired? Look if you like it I love it. March on. It seems like you're who many others strive to be like. You're a poster child for how to stick it to the system/man. Woop
Reuter’s News just reported that 20% of Covid positive patients develop some type of mental illness around 90 days. Would be hard to tell in Trump’s case—since he already had pre-existing conditions.
ReplyDeleteJoe @ 10:04 <--TROLL ALERT
ReplyDeleteI voted (w/o enthusiasm, but whatever) for Uncle Joe, and I'm glad he won.
ReplyDeleteThat said, unhinged liberals (and far too many leftists) and #McResistance media have been telling us for years that Trump is Hitler. Or Mussolini. Or Putin's Mistress... while failing to care much (or even report) about the fact that #McResistance Democrats renewed the Patriot Act and expanded surveillance powers for Hitler to govern under. They even gave Hitler a Space Force, while they were rubber-stamping Hitler's federal court nominations. Meanwhile, while the overwhelming center of mass media gravity opposed him, often in deranged (and sometimes grossly homophobic ways), Hitler committed crimes against humanity by... sending out media-trolling tweets.
The fact is, hyper-ventilation about norms - I'd argue that Russiagate was a gross violation of norms, even though I too dislike Trump - and "the soul of America" aside, Trump has governed as a pretty typical Republican, seeking tax cuts, shrinkage of the administrative/regulatory state, and base-mobilizing culture wars. It's awful, and often grotesque, but it's not Hitlerian, and the liberal/left discredits itself by insisting on it as a narrative and strategy.
@ Mike...
DeleteI think im following your bouncing ball but i may be slow on the uotake. I have a question, why did you vote for uncle? Also my 2 petty cents:Whatever treatment Donald received by the media can be chalked up to karma for his birther train that he drove for years. When you get in the ring to fight, be prepared to get hit.
Joe here,
ReplyDeleteDoes it matter? If I'm the poster child, great. If not, great. I have repeatedly tried, can't even get an attendance policy except to hear that students can never attend and still pass. If schools are writing that students don't have to be there and get credit, I guess I don't have to be there and i can get paid. Why fight it? I did my duty. Besides, they are giving awards based on all non measurable characteristics now. I should get one. I mean, 43% of the teaching cohort form 2013 already quit. I hung on. I should get plaque. You think I waited all this time just to have medical coverage?
Neil Cavuto is talking to Joe Lieberman about the 2000 election on Fox Business. Interesting chat. Gotta keep myself busy. Dow up 245. Fox News is showing Mccabe get grilled by the Senate.
If anybody disagrees with student fraud, we should show samples of student work. They should be able to prove and disprove pretty easily. Can they write a sentence or not?
Yeah, only 20 years to beat me down, I wanted to see what it was like to make well into the 6 figures and needed to add those retro payments on top. You know, the retro payments we were lucky to get. Mulgrew said they weren't God given, the DOE had to agree. Aren't we lucky.
Remember, if you hate me, I'm just doing what the DOE requested.
Shit, Nasdaq down today. I guess Cramer was right.
Later. Stay safe. There are mass infections and the UFT and DOE don't care. The school buildings and subway are probably the most dangerous places to be.
Yup. If the DOE held people and students to standards, we would NOT be having this conversation. So get off your high horse, do what you need to do, and don't judge anyone because a system is corrupt for the sake of "diversity and equity". The diversity and equity will be delivered by dumbing down everyone. We have dumbed the system down so the majority of students can fraudulently pass. We know who that majority is.
ReplyDelete@2:11pm...
ReplyDeleteSays get off your high horse. Smh. Only with anonymous is maintaining one's strong work ethic viwed as being on a high horse.
No thanks, if you and others are down off your high horse, I will stay on my high horse. You enjoy wallowing in your own sense of grandeur.
@2:11 How nice that you wear your racism on your sleeve. If a student and their parent are told that they DO NOT have to attend live classes in order to pass, how is that fraudulent on their part?
ReplyDeleteThis blog is the ANTI-Teacher, ANTI-student blog where folks can come to compare notes on the most clever way to FAIL a student, for example: post an assignment but do not post the instructions so that the student does not know how to do it, EVEN THOUGH DOE has stated that they do not have to be present. Very nice. These are exactly the type of attitudes while the DOE has gone in the other extreme direction in not allowing teachers to say anything to students.
Tom, you left something out...
ReplyDeletePost an assignment with no directions SO NO SHOWS CAN'T DO IT. SO THAT MEANS I TOLD THEM THEY MUST ATTEND CLASS.
@Michael Fiorelli - you discredit yourself by claiming that Trump is operating as a "typical" Republican and by trying to lay all the blame on "liberals" for all the Hitler and/or Mussolini comparisons. Christine Whitman is not a Republican. Neither is Scaramucci. Chris Stewart. Meg Whitman. But I think I'll take Democrat Clyburn's word over yours any day - clearly, your thinking is very limited. Nice try at trying to sugarcoat things: advocating and calling for violence and threatening the lives of Governors is "base mobilizing culture wars". Is that what they brainwashed you into believing in your right wing sites?
ReplyDeleteTom says, "This blog is the ANTI-Teacher, ANTI-student blog..." What the commenters say is their opinion. Just because we tolerate all views here does not mean I agree with them. Find me another blog, not a private Facebook group, where teachers can say what they like. The UFT does not offer that forum. I find some of the comments deplorable (some that don't get through are really racist) and I don't think Joe represents us well but neither does Michael Mulgrew and his pathetic brand of unionism.
ReplyDeleteWait a sec, so if the doe says that students don't have to go to live instruction, I don't have to teach live, right?
ReplyDeleteJoe is bad because he speaks the truth?
ReplyDelete@407...
DeleteHe certainly speaks the "truth" for many of you. It's like Trump Truth--acceptable for many but not all.
Are you calling Mike Fiorello a right winger? "Is that what they brainwashed you into believing in your right wing sites?" You need to read what Mike said again to see his criticism is coming from the left, not the right.
ReplyDeleteIs that the same James Clyburn you are trusting who takes those millions from the pharmaceutical companies who killed the Bernie campaign in SC? I wouldn't trust Clyburn or any corporate Dem. I would trust Michael Fiorello for sure.
https://www.corporatecrimereporter.com/news/200/cornel-west-on-james-clyburn-big-pharma-and-the-neoliberal-democrats/
@James - You sure have a penchant for twisting everything I say. I never said you agreed with them. It's akin to Yahoo, that many claimed was "liberal" site, but was overrun with right-wing wackos. And I guess you couldn't get past one post without getting your Mulgrew bash in.
ReplyDeleteAnd you don't think someone spewing terms like "leftists", "unhinged liberals" and referring to a disgust about the smashing of norms as "hyper-ventilation", is a right-winger? What?? Really? Did he write it in the form or satire? Because I have no idea how you get that his criticism is coming from the "left". What are you even talking about? Maybe you're not comprehending what he wrote either.
Yes - Clyburn. I like Sanders - but I don't believe he could've won the election. When Sanders was ahead "defund the police" was just getting started and it did not go over well, albeit, it was totally misconstrued and distorted. It's the reason the Trump machine tried so hard to paint Biden as being far-left. And you don't trust Clyburn, but you trust Fiorella who slanders Democrats - says a lot about you. Unlike you, I don't necessarily trust that someone voted for Biden, just because they say they did. Just like on Yahoo, you'd get people claiming all types of crap about being a Democrat while having a years-long posting history of nothing but Democrat bashing.
ReplyDeleteMike's good on his word. Clyburn and the corporate dems are a big part of the problem in this country. We will never know if Bernie would have won. The entire Democratic establishment was against Bernie.
DeleteMedicare for All polled well in the Fox exit poll. The $15 an hour minimum wage passed in Florida by a pretty good margin. People want left economics.
Mike's my friend. I know exactly where he's coming from. There is a huge left critique of Russiagate and neoliberals.
ReplyDeleteYour words: "This blog is the ANTI-Teacher, ANTI-student blog..." You then attack the comments but said this blog, not the comments. This blog is a dissident union blog. Mulgrew has earned every critical remark we have made. Why isn't he pushing publicly to close schools rather than telling teachers to bundle up?
Home depot has a black Friday sale on space heaters.
ReplyDeleteYeah! Screw all states except for NY and CA. Every other state is wrong!!!
ReplyDeleteJames, do you think teen pregnancy and/or single parent households are good for the child in any way?

James 11:19. Why would there be ugliness? It’s our system courts make the ultimate judgement. Who is going to cause this “ugliness”? If they don’t like the system they can go live in China or Russia. See how much roghts they get there.
ReplyDelete@558...
DeleteI see you've started drinking earlier than usual.
4:01 pm. One more time. YOU WORK AND GET PAID by the doe to show up, whether the students come or not. The students are not getting paid, you are. And you are an “adult” and I use the term loosely. If you need the difference explained to you then you are. A very low functioning adult.
ReplyDelete@620...
DeleteAnd they claim the students are the problem? Sheesh, seems like some of the professionals are struggling to understand their own responsibilities.
Teen pregnancy: not good. Should be established before having kids. Single parents: I was raised by a single parent. My brother sister and I ended up ok, especially my brother and sister so I don't understand your point. Being loved is what matters most.
ReplyDeleteYes.Being loved in a stable home is what matters most.
Delete401 can't just post assignments? I mean, if students can pass without being there...In essence, there really is no live instruction anyway. Don't dance around the point, which is, it's fraud.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess students, who earn credits, have no responsibility. Lol. Just how carranza wants it.
ReplyDelete"I will never understand why people hate Trump so much." I agree. I am outraged that the dozens of women he raped or molested seem to hate him.

ReplyDeletePa. postal worker whose allegations of ballot tampering were cited by top Republicans has recanted, officials say
The employee’s false claims have been cited by top Republicans as potential evidence of widespread voting irregularities, including by Sen. Lindsey O. But on Monday, as he was questioned by federal agents, the letter carrier signed a document admitting he fabricated the claims.
Andddd....
ReplyDeleteHe has just denied recanting and wants the WaPo to recant saying that he recanted.
Trump is certainly good at one thing: Luring Some on the fringe to his camp
This guy may have some credibility problems.
ReplyDeleteJames - I know what my words were - I wrote them, and they're still posted. But if you need it clarified - OK - the comments on THIS BLOG are Anti-Teacher, Anti-Student. Is that clearer? And frankly, on second thought, you probably allow it because some of those same ANTI posters oblige you with their rabid anti-Mulgrew comments to boot, and that is good enough for you because it seems to be your mission in life to get rid of him. And NO - he has NOT earned "every critical" remark. Some of the comments are just downright ridiculous - such as the time when you claimed that he is the architect behind keeping the schools open in March. That's nothing but unsubstantiated speculation. Sounds personal if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteMike's your friend? As if I care. My response is not based on whatever personal friendship you have, but on what he posted here. So you want to claim he didn't say what I read with my own two eyes because you know what he meant? Oh yeah - that's rational.
ReplyDeleteTom, If you can't tell Mike F is coming from a kind of Matt Taibi-Glen Greenwald perspective, not the right, you need to do some research.

ReplyDeleteWaiting I am 5:58 and I stand by my earlier statement. If the courts reversed the election why would there be “ugliness”? And who would be causing this ugliness? Sounds like a threat to me
ReplyDelete@927pm...
DeleteWh is causing this ugliness. Ummmmm Donald. The election is over. He lost. Donald said Pennsylvania has a history of fraud. But remember Donald is the smartest. Are you saying he didn't ensure that republican observers were onsight prior to and during the election? He is dragging his followers along his delusional path of resistance. The election is over. Done. He had 4 years to fix the "corrupt" election system. He did nothing. He did nothing for Covid. However he is golfing. No plan for covid but his lackeys are running to the courts to yell, fraud. The media is lying. The US is a fraud. So why the fuss over kneeling during the anthem? We are a fraudulent society right? Count my legal votes but his votes are fraudulent. The courts will fix it. He is the real winner because he says so. Ugliness. Donald is the ugliest
Tom, Please show me where I said Mulgrew was the architect of keeping schools open in March, not some anonymous comment, but where I said it.
ReplyDeleteFacts: Mulgrew knew buildings were infected with COVID-19 cases at a time in early March when there was no social distancing. He did not urge members to get out of those buildings. He would have been a labor hero if he did right by us then and I supported him when he broke with the mayor and called for schools to close. Many died around that time and Mulgrew later admitted it is logical to conclude some were infected at work. After he finally concluded schools needed to close, the UFT sent a memo to Reps that was leaked to the Daily News. In it, the UFT urged members not to engage in a sickout for March 16 but many didn't listen. The UFT's biggest concern was losing dues checkoff, not member safety and health. Then, schools closed for kids but Mulgrew didn't discourage members from going in for useless staff Development from March 17-19. On March 17, members arrived at multiple schools to find out there were cases in their buildings but nothing from UFT urging members to get out. By the next week, many more were sick. The UFT was way too slow.
The main reason we have not seen a repeat in the fall is probably because there are so few kids and staff in actual buildings. By Mulgrew's own count in today's Daily News, 2/3 never attended.
Yes, the right wingers here and I do not like Mulgrew's horrific leadership of our once proud union. We just have some different ideas on how to repair the damage.
You comment here day and night, Tom. I understand this blog was a topic of conversation at a recent Unity meeting and then you show up repeatedly around the same time. I respect your opinions but it looks like you are the designated Unity Caucus ICEBlog watcher. Have fun. If I am wrong and you are a regular rank and file teacher, I don't get the defense of Mulgrew here. It is totally unjustified.
Sunday October 11 - is this close enough? Or were you not referring to schools being open when you blamed him for the "deadly policies and practices since March"?
ReplyDelete"Mulgrew is either the architect or enabler of much of the disastrous and often deadly Department of Education policies and practices that have been implemented in the NYC schools since March. He needs to finally be held accountable now."
First you sound indignant that I would suggest such a thing, and then you proceed to do exactly that. And say what?? Now you are getting desperate by claiming that I am some designated Unity watcher? Really? That's pathetic. I guess I should have just posted like the other dozen "anonymous" posters. Nobody is defending Mulgrew but I think it's ridiculous to blame him for some of DeBlasio's decisions. MOREOVER, I made an observation that you are constantly bashing - that's different than defending and certainly doesn't make one a "designated UNITY ICEBlog watcher". ROFLMAO. I doubt they consider you that much of a threat. Some good commentary and all, and Mulgrew bashing 24/7 but not enough traffic. But have at it, it's your life's mission and frankly it's not a good look because it sounds extremely personal as if you are holding a grudge.
I said much of the policy since March the UFT is responsible for, a general statement that I have backed up over and over. You didn't refute anything I stated above specifically. I supported Mulgrew when he tried to get schools closed and urged everyone here to do the same. That is a fact. UFT policy has been deadly at worst and yes the UFT was either enabler or one of the architects. I don't know which. I stand by it. See March 17-19. Are you Unity? If so, I understand where you are coming from. If not, then I don't. If the UFT does something right, I support it. Screw it up and hurt members and you hear from us. At least frustrated UFTers have a voice here. If I am nothing to worry about which I don't really dispute, just a fly on an elephant, why do you comment on just about everything here?
DeleteP.S. I hardly ever comment on Mulgrew and Unity, so claiming that I am here "repeatedly" as if my comments here are focused on defending them, is simply irrational. Apparently you prefer right wing anti-teacher, anti-student comments as long as they are support your Mulgrew obsession. What's unjustified are your fallacious arguments.
ReplyDeletePS, I believe in the First Amendment. We print stuff I strongly disagree with. Why are you here just about every post if I am so irrational?
DeleteUSPS Whistleblower Richard Hopkins: “I DID NOT RECANT”
ReplyDelete@shawnboburg and @jacobbogage have been played by the same federal agents on the audio ‘coercing,’ ‘scaring’ the whistleblower to water down allegations. As reporters, they are REQUIRED to include Richard’s denial. REQUIRED
Uncle Tom was never a long time blogger here, thanks for clarifying James because it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI never remembered Tom and I have been on this blog for a long time, he was certainly not on Chaz blog. He seems very very angry as well.
Diblasio is the absolute worst we can all agree on that, so why is MUlgrew in bed with him? MULGREW is a bullshit wannabe politician who trys to hoodwink us teachers like he has our back. He is worried about dues and keeping us in line.
@ Waiting please this is a democracy we need to know these elections are transparent and honest. So let this play out like it should. It is the closest election of all time and roles reversed Biden would be doing same thing and liberal media would be crying so please cut this crap out.
@anon2323
DeleteThere you go again. Using ugly trigger words to make your point. You think Tom is angry? Look in the mirror. Uncle Tom? How about Hitler's protégé Donald. You see there? You see how the nastiness continues? Now it's time to let it play out. Now. When Obama wanted to fill the seat on the Supreme court wasn't the time to let it play out. Patience and let it play out is always trotted out when Donald Trump barks.
You don't like Tom because he doesn't buy your Intolerance and double talk. Puh-lese. This blog has gained foot traffic. James is quite strong. If they are having a discussion so be it. Uncle Tom. You sound crazy using such an assinine term.
Thanks for the moral support, James, but I'm resigned to the fact that too many members of both tribes have lost their minds and are unable to reason, think critically or reflect on history. Sadly, it's not just limited to MAGA heads...
ReplyDeleteIt's so much more comforting to believe that 2016 was Year Zero, and that nothing that occurred before then has any relevance to Orange Man, his election and his behavior. They really seem to enjoy the adrenaline rush of thinking of themselves as #Resistance Warriors, bravely standing up to Hitler with their tweets and email comments. Doubly sad, they insist on magical thinking (i.e. the hand of Archibald Cox will rise from the grave and magically remove Orange Man, based on a debunked conspiracy theory) as a substitute for actual politics.
@waiting for support,
ReplyDeleteAssuming your question was directed to me, I voted for Biden strictly as a strategic/tactical decision, believing that there will be a little more space for organizing and fighting for universal material benefits, directed primarily toward the working class.
Trump is grotesque and awful, but he was elected in America, by Americans. That may be a disturbing fact, but fact it is, one to be dealt with in realistic and politically adult ways.
Instead, for over four years we've been fed a stupid, ineffective - Orange Man's highest poll ratings were achieved immediately after the D's moronic impeachment campaign, which you may have noticed went unmentioned at their convention or during the fall campaign - Cold War disinformation campaign formed by a convergence of interest among factions in the National Security State, mainstream media (which gave "Hitler" billions in free coverage and continues to profit from covering every stupid tweet of his) and the people who lost to the most unpopular presidential candidate in history.
@Mike
DeleteThank you. I know understand.

DeleteTom is a Unity hack posing as a regular teacher. That is kind of obvious.
ReplyDelete@1035...
DeleteAnd so r u
James - I didn't refute anything you said? You claimed you never referred to Mulgrew as the architect of policies, and I showed where you said exactly that. But go right ahead and split hairs. I didn't say you didn't support the closing of schools - but it seems you blamed him for the schools not closing early enough or reopening - or WHATEVER. Perhaps he went along, but there is nothing to suggest that he was the brains (or lack thereof) behind those policies, and if I didn't refute it, you certainly have not substantiated your claims.
ReplyDeleteI'm here just about every post? Well, "waah, waah, waah". I barely posted right after the election until it was called for Biden because I knew there would be incessant whining. But to the question, I'm here to kick ass and take names on the propaganda lies that has infested the board. ROFL. I'm sure you hear this a lot, but what the fuck is your problem? I responded to another poster, you chimed in on the attack as you usually do, making lame excuses for his insults, and I replied in kind. Moreover, it's not as if I try to undermine your efforts on the UFT or encourage others to stop paying dues so yeah - it does sound irrational that you think I'm in on some sort of nefarious plot against this little known blog especially as I have never posted about the pros and cons of paying dues or whatever else it is you're pushing here, but mainly getting rid of Mulgrew. You keep asking, if not downright accusing me of being Unity. What the fuck does that even mean? I'm an educator. I've posted about it. Are you thinking I'm some sort of boogeyman because I post, and engage in debates on this public board. Yeah - that is asinine. But since we're trading insults, plenty of times you post as "anonymous" to try and lend support to your arguments. LOL.
As for your friend, why would I do research on him? I should give a fuck? He insulted, I replied, and you've had your undies in a wad ever since trying to pretend that he didn't say the things that are there in black and white. Fuck outta here.
@10:35 <---what's obvious is that you're corny as fuck. Can never point to one time that I've advocated for "Unity" but the anonymous trolls will bring out their old, tired and lame accusations when they can't refute a point. Couldn't even make it on a 6th grade debate team. And frankly, I'm not convinced that some of these Anonymous poster are not James himself.
ReplyDeleteOrange Man - oh yeah - that's not another right wing talking point. WTF.
ReplyDeleteStill not denying you are Unity, Tom. I think I know where you're coming from. The party line all the way. As for Mulgrew, you still didn't refute anything I said.
ReplyDeleteI meant for you to do research on where Mike F is coming from. Look at some of his sources. That won't happen.Unity= no independent thinking.
James - you want me to outright deny your kneejerk lies that I am Unity, that you based on what? WHY? I can't prove that I am or that I'm not, can I? What next, you want my email address and real name so that you don't have to feel so paranoid that someone's out to get you? Same as you wanting me to refute that Mulgrew is the architect, rather than you having to prove it? Like that, eh? Think what the fuck you want. How about you SHOW AND PROOF anything that I've ever posted that would even lead to that warped thinking. It's STUPID. James - get over yourself. Mike F. is not that important to me to go and do research on him AND His words give a clear picture on where he stands.
ReplyDeleteWaiting 9:27 here. Many times I agree with things you say especially education related things. I don’t agree with your politics but many of your answers are well thought out. However I asked what “ugliness” would occur if the courts overturned the election (originally a James post and he has been awfully silent) and you answered with much of trumps ugliness. I agree with some of trumps policies but also agree that the way trump says things and presents things doesn’t come off well. I agree with Biden that we should unite but starting with systemic racism is not uniting.
ReplyDeleteCan we say that racism exists in every part of the culture without saying that it is systemic?
Hey @ 1122 am
DeleteThanks for the kinds words. So I guess we can absolutely say that racism exists in every part of the culture. We can also say it is systems and structures that have procedures and processes that disadvantage African Americans (D. Johnson).
Let me ask you a question, how does that phrase"systemic racism" make you feel? Just curious.
Stay safe
Lest you forget - it was YOU who gratuitously brought up Mulgrew. I was speaking of the commenters who are anti-teacher and anti-student and you managed to bring Mulgrew into the conversation and now you want to WHINE that I'm defending him when I wondered WTF he had to do with what I was sayin? You just used that opportunity to go on one of your rants while hurling straw man arguments that I was defending him and the entire UNITY. You even conceded that you agreed with him on some things, namely the closing of schools? Does that make YOU Unity? Or can commenters only agree or disagree with Mulgrew on items that you approve? You think that's rational?
ReplyDeleteI meant for you to do some research on the sources on where Mike F is coming from. Expand your mind.
ReplyDeleteI said Mulgrew is the architect or enabler of much. Funny how the enabler part is getting lost now in your comments Commenters can say whatever they want for the most part here. You don't have to go through someone like Rasheed like at Mulgrew's bullshit town halls. I have no problem with someone liking or disliking what Mulgrew does. Fine by me. I am anti Unity but certainly don't deny they have done some good things and I stand with them when they do. Look how we were 100% behind the mobilization for action in the summer.
Since you seem to want to debate more, what has Mulgrew/Unity gotten right and wrong since the pandemic hit? I am interested in your take.
James - I expand my mind plenty and checking out where Mike is coming is HARDLY my idea of anything worth pursuing. Besides, I don't need YOU to try and dictate to me to expand it by checking out Mike's sources, as if he even posted any. I thought much of what he posted was incoherent. Regardless, sounds like InfoWars to me.
ReplyDeleteWho said I wanted to debate Mulgrew/Unity? I explicitly said that I usually DON'T bring them up. That's your obsession. Like your snarky comment about Rasheed (and no, I have no idea who this guy even is). Frankly if you want to get past the censor, tell them you want to speak on something else, then blurt out what you want to say when it's your turn. What's the big fucking deal? I didn't even realize this was a anti-Mulgrew board when I came across it. You'll have to rant and rage over him without me. I think it's tiresome but I figured I'd just respond to other things. Apparently that didn't suit your agenda. I didn't realize spewing anti-Mulgrew rhetoric was a requirement.
w4s, the stats about single parent household are documented
ReplyDeleteThe median income for families led by a single mother in 2018 was about $45,128, well below the $93,654 median for married couples. Out of more than 10 million low-income working families with children, 39% were headed by single working mothers or about 4.1 million.Aug 29, 2020
@12 pm...
DeleteR u from a single parent household?
Sorry to be sounding like a teacher but please cite your source, 12:00.
ReplyDeleteThanks waitingforsupport. James has enabled it. He accused me, without any evidence whatsoever of being undercover "Designated Unity ICEBLOG Watcher) - hahahahahah. Then accuses me of posting "day and night" when I'm working during the day and have afterschool activities, per session, pta, grade level town halls. Every now and then I can post during the day because the kids haven't shown up. But, back to the point, he enables (since he likes that word) the right-wing trolls who are anti-Mulgrew to spew whatever they like. LOL @ "Hitler's protege Donald". That's funny. As for Anon2323 - he's ridiculous small potatoes, still licking his wounds and not making any sense as usual. Like, really, who gives a fuck how long I've been posting. How is that relevant to anything. Maybe I should just post anonymously and reply to myself for and against different topics. ROFLMAO.
ReplyDelete@Tom and @ James...
DeleteImo you are both the reason why I like this blog. There are a few others also but both of you bring up important points. The anonymous crew are not at a level to have a serious discussion with Tom.
@ Tom: I don't have to say this but keep on keeping on. You don't suffer fools gladly, that's for sure.
@anonymous crew or should i call you the new "the unity hack" users: That s^it is whack as crack so move along. Adults are talking.
Tom, are you serious?
ReplyDelete"I didn't even realize this was a anti-Mulgrew board when I came across it."
That one is very difficult to believe. You know all about Unity but you came across a blog that is a caucus of the UFT that isn't Unity but you couldn't figure out in about two seconds that we are an opposition blog and most of the comments would run in that direction.
https://online.aurora.edu/single-parent-households/#:~:text=Single%20father%20families%20earned%20a,likely%20to%20live%20in%20poverty.
ReplyDeleteFinances
Most single parent households earn significantly less than two parent households. According to statistics compiled by Legal Momentum, the median income in 2012 for single mother families was $25,493, 31 percent of the median income for two parent families ($81,455). Single father families earned a median income of $36,471, which is 45 percent of the median income for two parent families. In 2013, 77 percent of single parents were single mothers.
Children in single parent households are much more likely to live in poverty. In 2012, the poverty rate for children in single parent families was triple that of children in two parent families; 42 percent of children in single parent families were poor, compared to 13 percent of those in two parent families.
Financial difficulties faced by many single parent households result in further challenges:
33 percent of single parent families in 2013 were “food insecure,” which measures the risk or state of being hungry, and 13 percent used a food pantry
11 percent of children in single parent families, and 27 percent of single parents, had no healthcare coverage in 2012
42 percent of single parent households had at least one of nine hardships measured by the Census Bureau in 2011, compared to 22 percent of the whole population.
“One of the most troubling trends for child well-being is the steady decline in the percentage of children living with two married parents,” the Annie E. Casey Foundation explains. “There is near universal agreement among researchers that being raised by married parents in a low-conflict household provides children with tremendous economic and emotional benefits. Children of single parents are at higher risk of negative outcomes later in life, such as dropping out of school, becoming a teen parent or going through a divorce in adulthood.”
The Heritage Foundation provides several statistics that quantify the increased risks that children of single parents face. For families with the same race and amount of parental education, when compared to intact married families, children from single parent homes are:
More than twice as likely to be arrested for a juvenile crime.
Twice as likely to receive treatment for behavioral and emotional problems.
Approximately twice as likely to be expelled or suspended from school.
A third more likely to drop out of high school.
Furthermore, girls from single parent homes are more than twice as likely to have a child without getting married. And by the time children from single parent homes reach age 30 — when adjusted for families of the same race and similar incomes — they are three times more likely to end up in jail. Finally, children from single parent homes are 50 percent more likely to experience poverty, even when adjusted for original differences in family income and poverty during childhood.
@12:30 PM
DeleteAgain, are you from a single parent household?
@James -I'm not surprised that you find it difficult to believe. You put things in people's mouths (a straw man), and then you argue from that point of view. I never said I "know all about Unity". In fact I've said quite the opposite. And what the hell is a "caucus of the UFT that isn't Unity". Sorry - I'm not as invested in that union business as you are. Actually I knew who YOU were because I worked with your wife and I know full well some of her battles with Administration. So there's that. I've also hopped on Chad's board years back but never posted to it. But who cares? SO WHAT? I knew or didn't know. That would prove what, exactly? That's just petty as fuck and you concoct up these scenarios in your head that don't even make sense as if I have some motive to lie because you want to stay stuck in your lie and paranoia as if I must've plotted to come on here as if this is some grand blog filled with thousands of "dissidents", that must be shut down - except I don't engage in those discussions so your paranoia makes ZERO SENSE.
ReplyDeleteI don't *really* see most of the comments running anti-Mulgrew. Most are anti-UFT, anti-paying dues. I see most of YOUR comments running anti-Mulgrew. The rest of the comments are just bashing the students and mocking the teachers as being cowards and scabs, many of those insults also hurled by you. When I actually came across the board years ago the discussion centered around a Principal and AP in Queens who were being accused of all sorts of harassment. Now if you're still convinced that I'm some sort of designated "watcher" you might want to see your doctor for that.
If you worked with my wife, Tom or whatever your name is, then chances are you know all of the inside union players as she isn't shy about talking inside baseball at work and never was. This, "Oh I am so innocent of UFT politics routine," is to say the least, extremely difficult to accept. And you read Chaz too but barely know what Unity is. Yeah, right.
DeleteI think I have it figured out. I gave you way too much credit as just a typical Unity supporter. They have a different style and many of us respect each other as unionists who just have different visions on how to achieve our goals.
I believe you are the guy that backs up the abusive administrators and says we have to give them a chance and I only give one side. You are just operating under a new name with some new issues. You use the same style in how you attack me. You say I don't get all the facts.
I think I have to apologize to Unity. I am concluding I was wrong. This is far worse than a Unity dude, along the same lines but much worse.
Now I will really piss you off, Tom. Since this is my blog, I am going to get the last word in this argument which I am sure bothers the hell out of you.
Biden beat Trump by almost 5 million votes in California. That is why we have the electoral college.
ReplyDeleteSystemic racism— a racial practice that is embedded in a society or orginization that is the normal procedures. That is from Webster. I looked it up and I tired to remember how it was phrased so I don’t know if o quoted it word for word right. But to me that definition implies that people that are part of the system (ie you and me) are complicit in carrying out said racism. I simply don’t believe that. And to the larger point I don’t think that using such a term “unites” anyone. Biden said he wanted to unite people around coronavirus, the economy and climate change. While climate change is a little more controversial I think most of us reps and dems alike can agree that the first two are issues that concern us all. I just think using terms like systemic racism advances the race war when the real war we should be fighting is the middle class and lower classes uniting agains that oligarchs of our capitalist system and trying to fix the abuses of said system together. All of that being said and while I disagree with James vehemently in national politics, I thank him for his blog and the fact that he does not censor people. I think all viewpoints should be heard, and examined for what they bring to the table. I have seen lots of comments about Hitler, but those same people would advocate for twitter banning posts by some and not others. That is not free speech
ReplyDeleteFor the record I am a dedicated unionist, registered democrat, and voted for trump. There are lots of us out here. The democrat party left me, not the other way around. They are just as, if not more so, corporatist and “reformy” as the republicans.
@136pm...
DeletePeople come and go through the "parties". My grandparents were Republicans until the party "left them". It's fluid and that's fine. One person/one vote. Im assuming you didn't create this mess and I know i certainly did not. I believe that working class folks have been ignored. I know we are tired of being ignored. We want a solution to the problem. Some folks think Republicans have the answer while others think democrats have it. So just imagine how you would feel if someone told you that they don't have it so bad and therefore, it's just not that bad. Would you feel heard? Would you just walk off and say to yourself, maybe it isn't so bad? How would you feel?
What is wrong with one person=one vote? Great concept.
ReplyDelete@TOM...you got some NERVE discrediting the ICE BLOG.This is the closest thing UFT MEMBERS have to the TRUTH..the FACT THAT UNITY STEALS our UNION DUES EVERY 2 WEEKS and demonstrates how weak our fucking UNION is just disgusting...you sound like a TYPICAL PRIVILEGED CORPORATE buffoon living on planet capitalism...A BLOG LIKE ICE is the ONLY THING we have to stay informed and get help while DISTRICT REPS AND SUPERINTENDENTS SUCK...YOU can take your PRO UNITY comments and shove it up you know where...many UFT members are ready to vote Mulgrew and his corrupt followers out!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I kind of cleaned up 12:57 which is now 2:15. All of this is getting way too personal so I am going to move on from this post.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha... i believe it. Anon.2:15 had coon and everything. Ha ha ha ha. Boy oh boy. This blog is hot today.
DeleteDon’t need to imagine it I am told that whenever I try to express my right of center viewpoints at work. Meanwhile my left of center colleagues can say whatever they want.
