RETIREE ADVOCATE PROMOTES JUNE 30 RALLY TO STOP MEDICARE PRIVATIZATION FOR NYC MUNICIPAL RETIREES

Just say no to privatized "Mulgrewcare" for NYC municipal employee retirees!

  1. I sent an email to Mulgrew, Sill, James and Lydia. Several teachers have confirmed that advantage care has increased the co-pay from 0 to 50. I was in shock when I went to the doctor this morning. Was anyone notified or did the uft just forget to tell us?

  2. Jeff,

Unfortunately, I experienced the same thing. The nerve of the uft to agree and inform nobody. Disgusting. Perhaps pro union james will tell us the thought process behind this uft sanctioned change, in private.

  3. What is advantage care?

  4. The uft is a disgrace. What an underhanded group of assholes.

  5. If the above is true, Mulgrew is the lowest of the low.

  6. Typical uft. A teacher has to break the news of a medical giveback. A huge medical giveback.

  7. Wow. Where the fuck are the pro union people on this? Happy now? Need more evidence?

  8. Interesting. Are some people paying $50? Seems that way. Can anyone confirm one way or another?

If there was no official change or updated card I would think it's still 0 but a bunch of people said they were told to pay $50. According to facebook, many offices cited January as the change date. Urgent care was always $50. So what was changed to $50 if not Advantage Care?

The fact that many offices are charging $50 would eliminate the single person mistake.

It would be nice if we could get a straight answer.

  9. And this is all happening to retirees under a Democratic Mayor, Governor and Mayor.

  10. Please describe what you mean by advantage care

  12. 5:56 An advantage plan is not as good as regular Medicare. They are eroding retiree medical benefits with an Advantage Plan. They’re taking from retirees but they’ll lie and tell you it’s a good plan. It’s not. I know people on different plans. Those on an advantage plan have shitty medical coverage. Don’t believe the UFT. Demand your regular Medicare plan.

  13. There is "Medicare Advantage" which is the retiree discussion, and ACPNY - Advantage Care Physicians, which is the in-service, in network provider for a lot of working UFT members. ACPNY had no co-pay for most visits - does it now?

Emergency may be $50. Not sure.

  14. UPDATE: I went back this morning and was able to clarify that the $50 co-pay is if you walk in. To avoid it, all you have to do is make an appointment. That change was made January 1, 2021. Previously, I had been able to walk in and pay 0. So, if it isn't a real emergency, simply call or go in to schedule an appointemnt. It would've been nice to get any type of notification from anyone. Thanks for the responses.

  15. Mulgrew mentioned (once) that people could keep the regular Medicare (if this went through) for a cost.
Do we believe this and what do you think the cost would be?

  16. As usual intentional or not bloggers on this blog just add confusion.

Retiree Medicare is being confused with an in-service medical benefit.

  17. Perhaps pro union james will tell us the thought process behind this uft sanctioned change, in private.
Perhaps anti-union Derek will tell us the thought process behind his thinking that if he didn't have the awful UFT he'd have much higher health care costs. Go try Obamacare if you are unhappy.
