CHICAGO TEACHERS UNION POLLING ITS MEMBERS ON WHAT UNION RESPONSE TO OMICRON SHOULD BE INCLUDING POSSIBLE WORK STOPPAGE (Update: 91% CTU Ready for Remote Work Action)

When was the last time the UFT polled its members? CTU shows the way on how a union should react to a crisis: Find out where the membership is at and what they are collectively willing to do.

A NYC reaction:

Update: We have the CTU poll results.

Note: We do not endorse the views of the source for this information. AFT's Leo Casey is attacking us because of the source. We were posting union news that was accurate. We cite the NY Post too. It does not mean we con ur with the Post's editorial positions.

  1. I literally wrote a letter this morning to Mulgrew/Sill about this very topic. If the main job of the UFT is to support its members, this means they need to ask us how we feel about the new covid regulations and what we should be doing about it. I urge you all to write them as well!

  2. And don't worry.
    Mulgrew is negligent again.

I wish Mulgrew was only highly incompetent and highly ineffective.
But when Mulgrew is negligent, Mulgrew is special!

    Here he is again:

Without de Blasio, Mulgrew will find someone else to pimp for.

  3. With at-home test kits for kids as a great success, how about at-home Regents Exams?
No Child Left Behind, a great success.

  4. Recall that the Covid testing during earlier waves was also politically motivated.

With different motivations guiding the democratic party, they now prefer to simply cover up their Covid disaster by not testing. This is World War C and the US is losing.

  5. NYC hospitalizations almost at all-time highs. Subway lines suspended bc of workers out sick. 20 CityMDs closed bc staffing shortages. 1/3 paramedics out sick.

It's not alarmist to say that having a Times Square NYE & keeping schools open w/out sufficient measures is horrific.

  6. It's comical to see how truly nuts people are. So fear mongered and brainwashed. What happened to the scary delta!!!! ahhhh!!!!!!!!! This is a mild cold/flu at best look at the panic. Nobody dying, people are getting sick, guess what it's flu season millions of people were getting sick every single day before covid. Again, the panic from people who are vaccinated is scary to another dimension. Live life like in the movie Bubble boy?

  8. Anon2323 shut up please. The vaccinated are, or were, out having fun, going to broadway shows, eating out, hanging at the clubs. And you? Shaking your fist from the safety of your home. Just stop it.

  9. 816,000 dead Americans. 4.5 percent of the world's population and 17 percent of dead from COVID. Some are still in denial that this is a colossal USA failure that continues.

  10. Why does this matter? Biden crushed the virus.

BREAKING: U.S. reports 484,377 new coronavirus cases, setting world record.

We will be plenty safe on onday, Mulgrew said so.

  12. what a surprise teachers want to stay home..WHO DOESNT??

Many people in all walks of life prefer to work from home...lots of money saved...
.no terrible commute for many.....work in your pajamas..sleep in a little later..dont have to use car days when you are sick....etc...etc..

Now on the reality of the DOE..
they dont want too many tested because the truth might come out..
doe is still unprepared and we are going on 2 years since we shut down
what to do..what to do..??..are we allowed to crticize Biden?/ can we still blame Trump.?.just asking for a friend

  13. @8:05 PM

It is a political failure and the failure is systemic with our political leaders
such as de Blasio ( criminal mismanagement of the school system, cronyism and campaign finance) , Andrew Cuomo ( Nursing Home corruption and negligence), Donald J. Trump ( tax fraud0 , Joseph Biden ( Hunter Biden affair), Nancy Pelosi (conflict of interest/ insider trading) It cuts across both parties and it is a systemic feature of our criminal elite.

THEY ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE LITTLE PEOPLE.

  14. I agree with Anon2323, although I do not think this is comical.

I am extremely concerned about mandates, vax cards, hysteria, divisiveness, unemployment, loss of freedoms, government power, the power of big pharma, letting people die to increase profits, media manipulation of information, the ease in which people are influenced and manipulated, the garbage and stupidity on social media, the reliance on vaccines and medications in order to maintain unhealthy lifestyles, the myth of remote teaching and learning, etc.

I think Fauci is the modern Jim Jones. It is a mystery to me why this man still has his job and why anyone would listen to anything he has to say. He clearly doesn't know anything and will say whatever his investors want him to say. It is obvious that he has succumbed to the lure of money and power.

When it comes to the UFT, is it possible to be more useless than Fauci? Why doesn't the UFT poll its members? Although, I would be in the minority, they should be interested to know what the members think. Mulgrew will just do whatever he thinks is best for him.

  15. There is an article in the Post today about how 3 siblings, 72, 70 and 68 were found dead in their home all dead from Covid. Yet, Covid kills only 1 percent of people who get it? Don't trust that figure and that it's just the flu and a cold. How many people do you know who died of the flu or a cold? How many do you know that died of Covid? I'm sure there's a big difference?

    ReplyDelete
  16. @7:27 you are vaccinated you are fine, got a boost too? MY immune system is way more functioning I can go out it's fine.

@7:36 is there any evidence Trump tax fraud? Missing a ton from Liar Biden, hunter is 1 of 1000 issues he has.

@8:05 numbers are not accurate, if that many died why has the same number of people died fro year before? Oh right they use covid for every death even if you die from motorcycle accident.

Let's make sure UFT uses the new PCR tests which detect flu or covid. Not every single case is strictly omicron , delta covid.

    1. Where you getting your numbers?

The average age-adjusted death rate increased by nearly 17 percent, from 715.2 deaths per 100,000 people in 2019, to 835.4 deaths per 100,000 people in 2020

  18. From December 31, 2017, through December 29, 2018, 2,831,836 Americans died from all causes. From December 30, 2018, to December 28, 2019, 2,845,792 deaths were reported, a small increase. From January 5, 2020, through January 2 of 2021, 3,332,482 people died. That is an increase of 479,050 or 17%, compared to the year before.

  19. The Economist reports over 1 million excess deaths in the US since March 2020.

You can choose to live your life in denial if you like as it might be psychologically easier but it doesn't change the pandemic's harsh reality.

  20. Article in Gothamist that exposes that you are not obligated to report a positive at home test. There is no number to report it and you have to do your contact traces yourself. So Biden is giving out a half billion at home cases. He is hoping this will curve the numbers because people will not bother reporting their positive cases. The article also says that the numbers are being underreported believe it or not.

  21. My friend's bf was sick with respiratory issues. Covid test backlog...his urgent care doc said they are ONLY doing covid tests, ie not seeing patients.
He went to a hospital in queens. He asked the doc there what he thought about ivermectin. The dic said I love it! It's great! But if I prescribe it, I'll lose my job.
Need I say more? He told me this himself! Not a rumor.

  26. Since kids are actually getting tested they are testing positive. Does this not tell you there is a problem with testing in schools? We are forced to keep students in groups because of Danielson, thus putting them in even more danger. 3 foot rule is a load of crap. No parent should allow his or her child to enter a public school building. Many teachers are doing 2x the work by giving all students the opportunity to work in Google Classroom. Not me, ony students in quarantine can do Google Classroom. Why am I being attacked because over 50% of my students are passing? Canceled Regents Exams tell the story of just pass them whi cares?

  27. Anon2323 - my immune system is fine too but it was mandated that I get the vaccine. I have a bad habit, I like to eat regularly and so I need my job. So you're either retired, or a coward, hiding behind a fake accommodation.

  28. The principals are loving the fact that Regents are cancelled. Easy to do more grade fraud. Also, I agree about the parents. It's the parents who have to speak up. The doe will not listen to the teachers or the kids. The parents have the most pull.

  34. I do not wish covid/flu on people here I disagree with. My immune system is 20 times more superior without the vax and my own natural immunity, I would never switch with your compromised immune system or ever want a blood transfusion from a vaxxed person.
You have no idea who I lost family or friend wise. I will never shut up since 90% this blog wanted this nazi vaccine mandate. Meanwhile, vaxxed all over are getting positive. With your crappy narrative.... I got the vax least not in hospital, the vaccine sucks!!

James I am sorry you do not go from 25-34 million cases of flu depending in a year to 1,800 cases. You been choosing CNN the pedo network and fauci for advise who has been wrong since the 1980's aids pandemic.

  36. Listen to what the frontline physicians are saying, not me and certainly not right-wing people here.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/front-line-physicians-describe-vaccination-affects-patients-latest-cov-rcna10215

“The general trend that I’m seeing is, if you’re boosted and you get Covid, you really just at worst end up with bad cold symptoms. It’s not like before where you were coughing, couldn’t say sentences and were short of breath,” said Dr. Matthew Bai, an emergency medicine physician at Mount Sinai Queens in New York City.

“There are obviously exceptions like if you start out with a very weakened immune system, your immune response won’t be as strong with a booster. But in your average person, a booster’s definitely going to make a difference is what I’m seeing,” he said.

Dr. Joseph Varon, chief of critical care services and the Covid-19 unit at Houston’s United Memorial Medical Center, said of the roughly 50 patients admitted to the hospital’s Covid unit in the last four weeks, 100 percent of them were unvaccinated.

He said patients who needed to be admitted typically have “shortness of breath, high fevers, being dehydrated like crazy.” He said those who are unvaccinated also “have more illness. What I mean by more illness is more pneumonia, not just a little bit of pneumonia, you have a lot of pneumonia.”

“The people that are coming in unvaccinated have a much larger burden of illness in the lungs than those who are vaccinated,” he said.

Meanwhile, those who had received the booster shot were “almost back to normal” within several days, he said. Those who had not received the booster have tended to “still feel sick after a week, a week and a half or so,” he added.

Patients who have received the booster shot may still have symptoms such as a sore throat, a lot of fatigue and muscle pain, said Dr. Craig Spencer, director of global health in emergency medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Those who are vaccinated but have not got the booster “looked worse, they looked like they felt pretty darn bad. But, again, they didn’t need to be hospitalized,” he said.
