Remember last year when the UFT said they had the most open process for the mayor's endorsement. We knew it was not real then but at least they asked some members to weigh in.
When it comes to the governor's race in 2022, the UFT is not even pretending to consult with the rank and file. It is Kathy Hochul all the way. Forget that she is for mayoral control of our schools (a complete disaster since 2002 that has to be renewed this June by the State Legislature and governor) and she hasn't opposed charter schools getting more funding.
Were the Executive Board and Delegate Assembly even asked? Mulgrew takes us for granted. There is not even any pretense of democratic decision making.
You get one chance to fix this mess. Vote United for Change in the UFT election this April. We need your help to spread the word.
Sooo, will the UFT ask for a return of the "S" and "U" rating system due to this endorsement? Probably not. The beatings will continue as usual.
ReplyDeleteI was never consulted by the UFT.
ReplyDeleteAnd I DO NOT want Kathy Hochul for governor because she supports Mayoral Control
which has contributed to 20 years of failure, neglect and mismanagement of the NY city
public schools.
Obviously, Mulgrew must also support the privatization of NY City public education.
I strongly oppose the privatization of NY city public education.
7:47, this is exactly why in over 24 years of service in this system, I've never contributed to COPE. My political leanings and opinions are 180 degrees different than those who run this union. What really aggravates me is that the membership is never polled as to where we stand on issues, and more specifically, what candidates to endorse, before the union makes public endorsements on issues and candidates. For these reasons, I'm not contributing one cent to PAC's that represent everything I despise
ReplyDeleteWhat will be UFCs comment on the Brooklyn teacher who called for reciprocity and to run over NYPD officers at the funeral on 5th avenue? This is an important issue to many of us who are conservative and support liberal causes but not defunding the police and the woke, cancel culture mentality. We know what we get with Unity. What do we have in UFC to know we have a voice?
ReplyDeleteEnd of day James, whether you admit it or not because you and Camille were over the top about mandates and vaccines so early. Now the game and narrative has changed time for you and Camille to open up. YOu guys have 0 shot to win with out United for CHANGE without going against the mandates. 10,000-15,000 either left the job or were coerced into taking this drug that has been as weak as Biden. You would have the vote of 25% of union right away between conservatives and the rest of the minority.
ReplyDeleteStay stuck in your cement and stubborn you wont even make a dent in this election. The mandates are about go bye bye. Truckers and the world are wide awake. You can hop over to the right side of history not the fear mongered, fake news, fauci listening garbage.
you are pulling this 25% number out of where exactly?
Deleteand if we use your hypothetical, it would also mean immediately losing 75% of the vote.
If they didn't take the vaccine and they are on unpaid leave, they can't vote unless they paid the union a onetime fee which I very much doubt the morons here would pay. My point, don't worry about the radical right costing you the election. Let them vote Mulgrew.
ReplyDeleteLet me translate for Anon2323 - "Waah, waah, waaah". He has no scruples so he thinks that James and Camille should be the same, and even if they support mandates, they should pretend they don't so that they can win an election. Going against vaccines is not going to help the majority who have already taken them, so Camille should hold firm, and ignore the voices of the deliberately dense.
ReplyDelete1:16pm. Another color blind mandater. Only seeing blue and red. I don’t think the 25% coerced into compliance were all right wingers nor the 5% on forced leave.
ReplyDeleteMichael Kane is a progressive lefty. So are many others.
Do people really think about politics when they reject forced medical experimentation?
Who else could they possibly endorse? Tish James is no longer running. Williams?
ReplyDeleteAt least Hochul is tough on COVID.
“Under Bill A416, the governor or his delegee may “order the removal and/or detention” of a person or group after they have determined by “clear and convincing evidence” that the health of others is or may be endangered by a confirmed or suspected case, contact, or carrier of a contagious disease. Such persons deemed to “pose an imminent and significant threat to the public health” can be detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility designated by the governor or their cabinet.”
How about asking us? How about comparing Hochul with Williams and then letting us weigh in? How about possibly making no endorsement? Top down without any member input has gotta go.
ReplyDeleteHow often has Mulgrew made the right decision about mayoral endorsements?
ReplyDeleteHis track record is trash because he is a narcissistic moron, and he is playing with your money.
3:24pm, you think everyone vaxed before the mandate supports mandates? Even in 2022? Oh man!
ReplyDeleteMost of them were just following the herd and/or were afraid. Now, they are not afraid. Hence, the low booster rates. Below 30%
The people who actually want to force others to take medical products without their informed consent are a fringe minority with unacceptable views.
Great point, James. Top down without input is no way to lead. Especially in a union.

not fringe. not a minority. most Americans support it.
I understand the majority want this ridiculous mandate with all your boosters and sprinkles on top.
ReplyDeleteTo beat Mulgrew and the establishment you need every vote, the number in the article is low, it was 18,000-20,000.
In the second article there was an 18,000 shot surge on friday because of the coercion.
To me 15,000-25,000 people who were either coerced into , did not take shot, or took shot and are against these mandates make up a solid amount where Mulgrew would lose out on. So again, James and Camille have .00000003% chance to win if they stick with their mandate only showing difference between "Change" and Mulgrew.
A good amount of people are sick to think teachers who did not get the shot should not be able to come back and teach. PLANDEMIC IS OVER!!! Politics and fear keeping you scared sheep with masks and living in a bubble of bullshit.

They shouldn't allowed to come back because they were insubordinate. They had their chance and blew it. Look for another job.
ReplyDelete3:58 - call it what you want. I could give a rat's azz whether they're allowed to return or not. Many of us have more pressing issues that we'd like the new leadership to discuss. Why should I give a crap about a teacher who left, didn't leave any grades, or any other information on the class that we then had to cover for him/her? Some of those teachers didn't even set up Google classrooms and yet collected the money. Let them fight their own battles, and why don't you stop trying to drag the rest of us into it?
ReplyDeleteWhy should I give a crap? That says it all, 12:49. I’m sticking with a Mulgrew. If the change in UFC doesn’t stand for ending mandates and getting people’s jobs back it’s not the change I’m looking for. Anon2323 is right. Enjoy your authoritarianism sheeple.
ReplyDelete517.. what do you think Mulgrew and his caucus represent? it is not the majority. not representing the voice of the majority is what authoritarian actions are. you have a lot to gain with UFC, or the choice of nothing to gain with Unity. your vote for Mulgrew will change nothing. there is more at stake than your single issue with the City mandates.
DeleteI agree.twice I was censored when trying to state the reg that satanic hochul is pushing.ill stick with the devil I know.sorry.you do not represent many members by pushing your personal opinion on the shot on others.thete is no compensation for vax injuries and deaths and they are record breaking. I'm no longer on your side.
ReplyDelete*Record breaking number of infections and covid deaths. USA is #1. your move is to do less? why? your personal opinion should truly take your own advice and not push your personal opinion
Delete5:17 - big crybaby. I took the vaccine before any mandates were issued by choice, so how exactly does that make me a sheeple. Isn't that what you're all crying about? that we should be allowed to make our own choices? But only if they align with yours of course. And we should put aside our own needs to fight YOUR battles. I don't think so. I'd bet money that you're a Trump supporter, so your talk of "authoritarianism" is laughable. Hahahahaha.
ReplyDelete12:09 - 5:17 just wants someone to fight his battles so he'll moan, groan, and pout if we don't speak up for him and he'll threaten to vote for Mulgrew, without even know who people support. But yeah..the majority support mandates, and that is democracy, not authoritarianism.
ReplyDeleteSo who will speak up for YOU when you tire of unending boosters? First they came for the jews...the battle is everyone's because they are eroding rights of everyone.bury your head in the sand then stick it up your ass cuz u can't see past your nose!wake up! This is everyone's battle.and ps when you get degenerative diseases faster for having been vaxxed, should we grin and say not my battle?just asking.
ReplyDelete4:38 boo hoo. Shove it up your own azz. Why would I even want to fight for such a disgusting person such as yourself? Don't want to vaccinate? Move to a red state and stop your incessant whining. You don't get to dictate to anyone which battles they should take on. Have you joined the battle to stop Republicans from passing oppressive voting laws? What about the battle to do away with no-knock laws? What about the battle to keep free or reduced lunch for needy children. Go fight your own damn mandate battles and stop regurgitating right wing garbage, you hypocrite.
ReplyDeleteI still don't give a crap about teachers who left, didn't leave any grades, or any other information on the class that we then had to cover for him/her? Some of those teachers didn't even set up Google classrooms and yet collected the money. We're better off without them as they showed they didn't care anyway.
