Yesterday, my kids and I were continuing our last-second Christmas shopping tradition. We bought a whole load of gifts from Target online and did their curbside pickup in Westbury. It was all good.
We then headed for home in Queens in our 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid and the car literally went dead on the Meadowbrook Parkway. It looks like it was a fuel pump problem that the car was recalled for that we never had a problem with before the recall. We brought it in and Toyota replaced the fuel pump two weeks ago and now this. It's kind of scary when the car dies at 55 MPH on the highway and then displays a dashboard message to visit the dealerhip. No kidding.
We managed to get to the shoulder safely and the car restarted once so we were able to get off the highway and onto the middle of Old Country Road where the engine went bye-bye for good.
I called the local Nassau police. A car came within ten minutes and the officer helped my kids get safely to the sidewalk to wait and then he worked with me to push the car off the road and into a parking lot. He then offered to drive us home but by that time my wife was on the way to rescue us. Thanks to the Nassau Police for the professional service.
As for the American Automobile Association, they must be short-staffed for December 24 as they took three hours to come for a tow so our kids got their dream Christmas Eve dinner: Mcdonalds.
Toyota will be hearing from us next week for sure for botching up the recalled fuel pump repair that left me stuck on Christmas Eve but for now I am happy to be home enjoying Christmas with family.
Be safe everyone as we are setting COVID case records in NY. Hospitalizations and deaths are lagging indicators so don't tell me how they are still relatively low. I hope and pray they stay low.

Update: Toyota took the car in on Monday and it was a minor fix. I am going to give it a good ride today to test it.

Thank God you and your precious ones are safe. Thank goodness those officers were there to help. I caught something--rapid results say Neg for Covid thankfully. The Nassau County Police are excellent. I live in N. Bellmore. I had an adrenal crisis last week ( I have a benign pituitary tumor) and they came to my house rescue me. Luckily my daughter was home and gave me an emergency injection of hydrocortisone. The next time your in trouble, give me a call I'll help you.

Sorry this happened to you. Glad all are ok. You can look up the stats on your car and see if others have experienced this on the National Highway Safety traffic administration website. They gather info on cars from owners around the county. I used this site to gain info and won the lemon law years ago.
Your kids were safe that is all that matters. I broke down on Henry Hudson right at ramp for GWB in July. Waited 5 hours for a tow. Fuel Pump issue with my Rogue.

No. There is no evidence that suggests 108 players die due to Covid-19 vaccine. Moreover, the blog itself claims that “professional athletes, coaches, college and youth athletes” have died since December 2020. The list of 108 players is in Hebrew-language and can be seen here.
As per a news article published in Reuters, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has confirmed that they have not seen a rise in episodes of cardiac arrests among players who have received Covid-19 vaccine. In fact, the list was prepared using the news reports of 108 dead players aged between 12 to 64.
Are the deaths of 108 players related to vaccines?
No. There is no evidence that links the death of players with Covid-19 vaccines. On the contrary the available limited studies show “no appreciable impact of exercise on vaccine response”.
Last week in NYC schools was disastrous.

The UFT leadership is garbage. If the numbers are still up on SUnday and the new mayor or chancellor or bend over Mulgrew do not follow the pattern of neighboring districts and go virtual then use your own sick days and protect yourself. We don't have to be there. They cannot use use of sick days against us. This is my plan. If I don't feel safe I am not going in.

If you're a free rider, accepting benefits, but not paying dues, then you're a dirty scab.
And if you pay dues to get abused by your own union, for decades, you aren't very smart.
