Over the last year, I have heard from thousands of City retirees asking me to protect their hard-earned healthcare. Today, I voiced my firm opposition to any changes to admin code 12-126 and the privatization of the healthcare for our City's retirees. My full remarks
Meanwhile, UFT President Michael Mulgrew continues to lead the push to privatize retiree healthcare starting by attempting to lobby and asking us to lobby to get the Council to change 12-126. We are hearing rumors that there are those in Unity who have had enough.

Let me get this straight: Even top members of Unity are having second thoughts about Mulgrew's plan to change healthcare. So, why are they not speaking out? I know the answer. They want to keep those cushy, paid, double pension jobs that they hold as members of the Unity Caucus.
All of this has to be coming from Weingarten, nothing else makes any sense.
Actually, all this has to do is with Mulgrew's political aspirations. Maybe will head the AFT or run for public office somewhere. He thinks of himself as the "grand savior" who can help cities and taxpayers save money. (Even if it is on the backs of his own friggin' retirees.
Who decided that those jobs at the union come with a double pension?
That goes back to AL Shanker's time with the double pensions I do believe.
People with jobs at the union get double pensions? What does that even mean? That's the code that should be changed to save the city money.
