For anyone who does not have an advanced degree in statistics but would still like to figure out how our numbers are calculated, Jeff Kaufman sent a link to the Department of Education's Advance Guide for Educators which is now down (great job DOE) so thanks to a reader for sending a link to a PDF from UFT of the Guide.
Good luck trying to decipher how we are rated. Anyone who fully understands how teacher ratings are figured out wins some kind of prize.
Have fun also with the Michael Mulgrew Matrix that premieres for real tomorrow.

website down. surprised?
website up for the moment, but report not available.
I finally was able to get mine. Great test scores, but "growth" was 16 points, so I stayed at effective. In other news they can't fire me based on teacher performance for two years.
To not know your rating by the end of the school year is ridiculous.
takes all summer to "crunch the data." finally got mine too, so also 2 more years till i can be fired, barring a 3020a anyway.
what is really grotesque is that teachers who just received a poor rating are no longer able to leave under open market transfer. that is really f-ed up imo. if they had their final results in june they could have bailed. but not now.
UFT had all summer to make an attempt to get us 2 observations instead of 4. Now we are stuck for at least another year with the highest amount of observations in all of New York State.
For us Brooklyn teachers, watch out on Thursday. Not a joke, the culprit is 19, may be in one of our schools.
The search is on for a man police say shot two people including a 1-year-old boy in Brooklyn.
The shooting happened back on Aug. 19 just after 5 p.m. near Junius Street and Sutter Avenue in Brownsville.
Police said a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg after an argument with Summerville. That bullet passed through the man’s thigh and grazed the baby’s knee.
Police have identified the suspected gunman as 19-year-old Lyemel Summerville.
Or the Bronx...Good luck telling them to put their cell phones away.
The video shows the scheming trio – described as being in their late teens or early 20s – lurking in the hallway near the stairwell at 1356 Walton Ave. The victim, a 46-year-old Chinese food delivery man was dropping off food, police said.
The suspects are seen waiting for the man at the bottom of the stairwell, where police said they then take turns punching him. Police said the trio then stole $150 from the victim and fled.
The man suffered a laceration to his face, but refused medical attention.
Dont worry, its all a scam. The city and UFT have made it babysitting, punch in, out, get paid, try not to let it destroy your life.
Cant login in to download interactive report. Even reset a password. I guess this is typical for the DOE.
Guess the website is down again.
As stated, and nobody gives a shit. Just keep paying your dues and the uft will say you are lucky to keep getting a check.
HEY UFT!!!!! ****TWO**** OBSERVATIONS, NOT FOUR
Yeah, right. Keep dreamin. That, a decent contract and 8.25% TDA.
Good to see that I am not the only person here who wants 2 observations. UFT dropped the ball on this so bad. It will haunt us till we get UNITY caucus out. Looming teacher shortage and the DOE/UFT hash out more observations than anywhere in ALL of NY. Who in their right mind would want to teach here?
Web App is not working.
They haven't finished playing with the numbers yet. It says it won't be out until next week
If you go into the "Salary History" option on the payroll portal you'll be able to see your rating. Once you have that, who cares about the stupid b.s. details of this fraudulent rating system.
James, the link you provided to the 2016-17 Advance Guide for Educators doesn't work.
Here's the correct URL:
