A recent poll on a Facebook group showed that by a 277-3 margin UFTers want to see presidential candidates Michael Mulgrew and Camille Eterno engage in a debate. This is an unscientific poll but still that 99 to 1 margin means something.
There were two UFT presidential debates, one in 1999 and the other in 2001.
Since Mulgrew became president in 2009, he has ducked all of his opponents including me.
I did debate Unity's Jeff Zahler on WBAI before the Executive Board election back in 2007. In addition, candidate forums were part of the District Representative elections before Randi Weingarten ended these elections in 2003.
As it didn't hurt Mulgrew's vote totals, I see little chance of him changing his mind and debating in this election unless the rank and file demands it.
Unity's worst fear is UFTers en masse demanding real representation.
Calling for change on a grand scale within the UFT is what this blog has done for 17 years. Perhaps the time is right for real change now, for United for Change.

Maybe you should call Errol Louis and tell him you'd like a debate. Let Mulgrew not show up or accept the invitation and Camille can just show up and tell Errol and the viewing audience of her stance. Q&A session etc. Idk

I've posted before I would love to see Camille on NY1 with or without Mulgrew.
It would be so much better exposure than a blog or radio show.

The vaccine and mask mandates are about to go and instead of getting ahead of this and comprehending it's over you guys are in lock step and it will cost you thousands of needed votes from vaxxed and unvaxxed.

You shouldn't use Mulgrew's playbook or go by his rules because they are made by him and for him. I hope UFC creates their own playbook.
It is so sad to see our sisters and brothers turn so toxically on each other. It opens the doors and windows to those who salivate over the idea that we will destroy ourselves from within by treating ourselves as each other's enemies. Fair debate fine; toxic venom deplorable.
11:05. Good points about using media to garner support for debates. I think Mulgrew is starting to enter Randi Weingarten territory through his lack of accountability, poor leadership, and selling out union members to special interests (Big Pharma).
