We try to follow labor news here at the ICEUFTblog so we were interested when workers at the Baumann Bus Company on Long Island called for a strike today. The drivers are from TWU Local 252.
Strikes are quite rare these days as labor takes it on the chin over and over again so when a union fights back it is important news.
Here's to these workers getting a fair contract.
Before anyone comments that these are private sector workers so this does not impact on us, please remember that there was a time when the UFT didn't care that strikes were illegal for public sector employees in NYS (at one time the penalty was termination for striking) and we had real job actions.
