A reader sent me this piece from MOTHERBOARD. Bus drivers in Brooklyn are doing something and not just complaining. These are the kind of symbolic actions that can lead up to something bigger and real.
Brooklyn's 3,500 bus drivers refused to pick their shifts for the summer work schedule on Monday because they believe it will result in packed buses, putting worker and passenger health at risk, Motherboard has learned.
“They ignore me and give me a schedule exactly like last year’s schedule,” JP Patafio, vice president of Transit Workers Union Local 100, told Motherboard. “And I told them I’m not going to accept this schedule. It’s dangerous for my members and it’s dangerous for riders.”
This is a symbolic action. UFTers should be thinking about some kind of symbolic actions if there are problems in schools before they are reopened. If it is unsafe when it is reopened, teachers have to be prepared to get up and walk out en masse.

The impact of the protests will signal if there is an increase in COVID cases. Will not know until a few weeks. The results will be very important in determining the action plan put forth in regards to schools in September. Stay tuned.....
I shut down yesterday's comments because one person, or maybe two, didn't respect my request to move forward. Both sides of the national and local debate were heard extensively and I was exhausted.
Someone wants to continue the political argument here on a posting on bus drivers taking action that has nothing to do with national politics. I am tired of getting constant emails from who I think is the same person with similar comments that are way off topic.
I have asked over and over for people to stay on topic or at least be somewhat related. For example, school comment for school posting.
