The mayor wants us to babysit. What a surprise. No concern for teacher or student safety getting to and from school.
With remote an option, why did Union not even think of asking for it? Awful commute and dangerous!
They could have at least suspended alternate side parking and give people a break. The street will get plenty clean with all the water.
For the love of God, the DOE could at least cancel extended day so we can get home safely. But then again, the DOE does not give two shits about teachers.
I am feeling so overwhelmed. I am new to the doe and in my eighth year teaching. I have never been this overwhelmed.
My mental health is suffering. I feel awful everyday. I think this may be a sign that I’m not meant to be a teacher. I just don’t know how I can make it through this year. I feel so broken and defeated. I feel like I’m failing.

10:36: It's not you, it's this system. You could be a great teacher anywhere else. One woman doesn't decide who makes an effective teacher. You made it eight years so far. Since you're not vested in the doe yet, my suggestion is to go look for another job. If you are not tied down to NY, there are many states with teaching shortages. You'll get paid less, but the living expenses will equal out.
EVE, if you can manage to teach in nys public schools till year 10, you can be vested I think and have something to take when u move on.
I'm not sure about tier6...it might be a pension or benefits.i only know my tier.if u work outside myself or in private, u get nothing...try changing schools or try elsewhere in nys if u can hang on.
When are you going to realize that you are replaceable? You are not a teacher. You are a babysitter. Parents have to go to work and they can't go to work if they don't have child care.

I don’t know anyone who stormed the Capitol but I have a garden, know how to can food. Learned this and other basic skills from grandma. Many in my family hunt. Never hunted but watched many a deer and some pigs butchered in grandma’s back yard. Helped grandma make cured meats from both animals. I’m not 6:38 but this anti communist certainly has some survival skills. If you get out of cities there are people with actual know how on survival. Keep laughing. We’ll keep preparing…. Its amazing I lasted twenty years so far in this mess. So maybee the norm will be to give back money for our contracts. We are not giving anything back. We are just not going to get anything. In my building Im starting to see the new teachers get tired of all this. Their great teachers but they have limitations too. You cant sustained the amount of work these principals give over the year. I was so glad to be an atr for ten years out of twenty. Didnt have the stress the classroom teacher had but now that im in the school for good I see it. My lessons come first and everything else takes a back seat.
I know in my school we get at least 50 emails a day and I"m not kidding. Also we get document after document and we have so many committees they actually have a committee as the head of committees. We are all just spreading ourselves so thin, that we can't focus on everything.
