DOE HOMECOMING 2021 HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDE; WHERE IS MULGREW?

The NYC Department of Education put this health and safety guide out and sent it to parents. My nonscientific opinion is it is way too weak and is an invitation for COVID.

For example:

During lunchtime, masks may be removed so students can eat comfortably at a safe distance from one another. Masks may also be removed during designated “mask breaks”, during which students will maintain physical distance from each other.

What are the distancing requirements?

Physical distancing is another important part of our multi-layered strategy to keep our school communities safe. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) “recommends schools maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students within classrooms to reduce transmission risk. When it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least 3 feet, such as when schools cannot fully re-open while maintaining these distances, it is especially important to layer multiple other prevention strategies, such as screening testing.” Additionally, wherever possible, elementary schools will keep groups of students consistently together or have teachers move between classes in order to minimize movement of students. It is important to note that the CDC emphasizes that schools should not exclude students from in-person learning to keep a minimum distance requirement.

Dr. Michael Osterholm, a respected epidemiologist, said that thinking three-foot social distancing in schools would stop the virus is beyond pixie-dust wishful thinking.

Where the heck is the UFT and Michael Mulgrew? One would think this guide had to have passed through the UFT. Except for the electronic town hall and a couple of emails, it would appear that President Mulgrew has been put into the witness protection program.

South Bronx School has the same question and wonders why the UFT, unlike the Chicago Teachers Union, is not making demands for safety and sharing them with members.

You guys all voted for "where is mulgrew." Elections have consequences.

Maybe your insistence on paying dues should change if you are going to post all this negative uft stuff. Which is it? You forgot March 2020 fast.

What a shock. The guy who let the city hold our money for 12 years and got us 1% raises and still hasn't gotten spring break pay and allows grade fraud and attendance fraud and no discipline code failed again.

Well, the sock puppet Mulgrew is going to have a town hall on Sept 7th. Check your email for the invite but be prepared for the usual screened questions from various Unity hacks.

I think it is Sept 2.

The gold standard for the spread of the delta variant. Imbeciles.

'What are the distancing requirements?'

C'mon, there will be no distancing requirements that are enforceable.

Never fear, plans are forthcoming.

De Blasio indicated that the city is still negotiating the details of how instruction will be provided with union leaders. “We’re going to be filling in a few more blanks in the next few days because there’s still a couple of issues being worked out,” he said. “We’re still a few weeks out from the beginning of school.”

So now we know the real reason why they didn’t offer an ERI. They KNEW they wouldn’t need to. Watch teaching staff run for the hills in light of this news.

Yes, Sept 2nd.

So from the UFT email, am I correct in assuming since teachers are vaccinated we are not to quarantine at ALL if we have been exposed to a positive student AND we will
have to go on OUR OWN TIME TO BE TESTED?

If the entire elementary class is quarantined does the teacher still have to come in and teach from the classroom so that they can get pulled to cover other classes in the building in addition to planning a set up of a virtual class and lessons?

Is the DOE going to have us set up google classrooms on the first staff development day so we are prepared to go virtual from day 1? SO class lists will need to be updated and correct from day 1.

With increased concern about covid and decreased social distancing, why is testing negligible??1. They do not have to consent and 2.why only 10%OF THOSE WHO UNVAXXED WHO GAVE PERMISSION. imho, 20% was not enough with far fewer in school.now everyone returns and its next to nothing?and that does not take into account the vaxxed spreaders.maybe they will make a new covid ward or trailer for body storage dedicayed to the fine leadershop of Muldope and dibozo doblunderer.pinch me, is this real??

I'll bet we get our Spring Break money during the negotiations so that Mulgrew can claim some sort of victory. All those standing on their convictions of "give me liberty or give me death" will be knocking each other over to get their vaccinations so that they don't miss out on a few bucks.
