ALL CHICAGO TEACHERS SET TO STRIKE THURSDAY RATHER THAN LET SOME RETURN TO UNSAFE SCHOOLS

K-8 educators have been ordered back to work inside Chicago Public School buildings. The Chicago Teachers Union believes buildings are unsafe so they will be having none of this.

This is from the CTU quoted in the Chicago Sun Times.

"So it’s come to this,” the union wrote in an email to members Tuesday afternoon. “Short of some late-breaking change, *all* CTU members will begin working remotely tomorrow, Wednesday, January 27. And if CPS retaliates against members for exercising their right to a safe workplace, *all* CTU members will stop working on Thursday and set up picket lines at their schools.”

As a result of the CTU resolve, all learning will be remote tomorrow.

The immediate implications of the union’s collective decision to reject in-person work because of health and safety concerns is that about 3,200 preschool and special education students will return to remote learning Wednesday, just two weeks after resuming in-person instruction for the first time since last March.

Schools chief Janice Jackson wrote in a letter to families Tuesday that “the district has no choice but to ask parents to keep your children home tomorrow.”

You see ladies and gentlemen, if there are no teachers, there is no in-person schooling. We enthusiastically support the CTU militancy.

I guess I have to state the obvious here. The Uft will never, ever strike. Even if there is mass discontent it would never go to vote because Mulgrew would never allow it. What all teachers should do is purposely fail that test each and every day. People are putting to much hope and trust in this vaccine especially in light of the variants now coming to the fore. Mulgrew seems to be insinuating, in yesterday’s EBM, that once all teachers have the vaccine that we can move into some type of normalcy. I’m not a doctor and neither is he, this should be something that is looked at very carefully before everyone is thrown back into the classroom. I’ve read that some people that have had the virus recently have caught the variant. The variant being much more catchy and in some cases more deadly. I don’t trust the medical authorities after their purposeful lying concerning masks and I certainly don’t trust Michael Mulgrew. Good Luck to all NYC teachers.

Either Biden and Mayor Beetlejuice, both democrats, want schools open because they know they’ve been playing politics and exaggerating the threat or if the threat isn’t exaggerated then they want black kids and families in Chicago to be exposed to a deadly virus. Either way they’re targeting black people. Keep black kids out of school for political reasons or send them to school to spread virus in a black community. Sad.

The systemic racial injustice in America is the fact that Dems FIGHT to keep black kids in failing public schools where over 70% are graduating with less than 3rd grade level of math & reading. Dems fight school choice to keep the teachers unions that fund them making billions$

The Democrat run schools are graduating kids that can’t read & therefore can’t function in society so they end up in a life of crime.

Survey found 90% of black kids graduating in Baltimore couldn’t read or do math at a 3rd grade level. These kids are being set up by Democrat politicians for failure.

But the Mayor there has BLM murals & signs on every lamp post to keep the votes coming
Again Symbology vs Policy

11:11 You can only blame the teachers for that. YEs they get pressured to pass kids but they give into that pressure and feel sorry for the kids or pass the kids to make themselves feel like they are good teachers because they have a lot of kids passing. If teachers gave honest grades, fewer kids would graduate and the city would have to find something new that works. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

If you are going to promote nonsense conspiracy theories, pick a lane.

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen or read the “Remote Danielson” rubric for evaluating teachers? I see the city offer workshops for admin now-looks like that’s the direction we are headed in.

Now that some are off topic with "conspiracy theories", 11:11 and 11:29, blame teacher's for 3rd grade reading levels? Really? I don't think so, more family oriented academic engagement is key.

Whose fault is it about the 3rd grade reading levels in high school?

I opened the door by letting you stray off topic but please get back to CTU.

As we are passing no shows...Morales says one post-pandemic strategy to catch students up should be extending the school day/school year (Extending the school day was part of de Blasio's strategy for low-performing schools)

I’m watching Fox News - first Maria Bartiromo and now Tucker. Non-stop attacks on teachers and teachers union’s saying we ignore the science “statistics do not lie” and showing teachers doing ridiculous solo interpretive dances in Chicago (think Squidward on SpongeBob) instead of teaching and all the while collecting full salaries. They never mentioned this story, https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/27/us/teacher-deaths-coronavirus.html , about a dying teacher. Infuriating.

812,

Funny. What do they want? There is a learning gap yet they want the students to pass while doing nothing yet they say we have the highest grad rate ever.

Great more class time for students to cut now.

Teachers do a lot of trashy things. Like fake grades. And we, as teachers, mostly hate our own union.

11:35. I’ll choose Biden and Mayor Beetlejuice know they are putting black lives at risk but don’t care because they only needed their constituents to fall in line for the election. Now that Biden won they’ll toss black families aside for the next 4 years. But then again..... maybe Not. Maybe they new it was a farce but didn’t care because winning the election was more important than black kids education. Geez I guess I can’t choose after all. So many possibilities but they all result in Biden shitting on black families. Sad.

Washington Post headline “Now is the time for democrats to stand up to teachers unions” . the left media is done wining and dining dem voters and now they will have their way with you anytime they want. Puts a smile on my face. 100% Bezos. Open schools now.

The head of the teachers’ union said the city isn’t ready to reopen schools for older students safely.

People realize we have 21 and 22 year old study in D75 classrooms? I guess Mulgrew doesn't.

But they dont care about d75 and elem.would these parents who want schools open be ok with keeping their own windows open in this weather?5 cases at once in my former school now.who is really benefitting from all this?they should have listened when we told them they were not prepared.maybe they will give heaters for outdoor learning, like restaurants.is that what they want??and ask these entitled parents to come and volunteer in a maskless room with frigid air from windows.why doesnt mulgrew do this and where is the safety committee on this??
