SOME UNOFFICIAL OPT OUT NUMBERS SHOW MOVEMENT STILL ROBUST

The opt-out from testing movement continues strong here in New York State in spite of a media storm saying the tests are different when they actually very similar compared to 2015. We have some unofficial numbers in from our friends at the Port Jefferson Station Teachers Association. It looks comparable to last year on Long Island with a huge number of parents having their kids refuse the Common Core exams.

2016 preliminary numbers from PJSTA as opposed to the 2015 numbers.

For those who want to read comments about the tests, head over to Leonie Haimson's New York City Public School Parents blog.

Some media coverage from the Long Island Press.

You can also read the Carol Burris report at the Answer Sheet Washington Post blog.

Parents should know they can still opt out on the math tests that are upcoming.
