Good for them. At least they get things done. The more they do this, the more seriously they'll be taken. I don't know why Mulgrew doesn't call for a vote for us. This would not be a job action since we are still working and it's regarding our safety.

From a CNN report a few minutes ago—Chicago teachers have been locked out of remote instructional platforms. Thought that Major League Baseball owners had a monopoly when it came to lockouts.
We thought we had it bad with diblasio as our mayor. Did anyone ever take a good look at the mayor of Chicago these days? Now that is one scary thought to imagine having to work and deal with this mayor.
The UFT wasnt "clueless." I'm sure the rep told you that the mayor makes that decision after consulting with the Chancellor and with meteorologists. Anyone who's been around for any snow days in the past knows that the there's no exact rubric. In fact, shame on you for calling the UFT to ask a question for which there is no answer. In fact, I am quite sure you didn't call the UFT. You just made up that story because you love to say the UFT is "clueless."
I am so glad I went in today. Principal and AP's walking around doing Informal Observations today and for the rest of the week. Many classes had over half the class out and the ones that came to class are checked out. I hope for some understanding about the current situation and have the observation returned only as feedback, but I will not hold my breath. Keeping our students in school will cause many more students to fail.
NYC is testing less than ONE PERCENT of kids at many schools. In what way is that “rigorous”???

I recall Adams saying he would involve parents in decision making. I don't see how this guy is any better than Di Blassio. At least Di Blassio closed the schools eventually. I hate to tell Adams that fewer students are learning because there are so many teachers absent and so many students not going to school, but don't worry we still will be a city with swagger.
Observation reports are hogwash (the polite term). They don’t contain either facts or statistics. They are opinions. Read Al Shanker’s realization about the observation/evaluation procedure.

I thought Adams was going to listen to parents. We have spoken by keeping our kids home and keeping them safe. If 1/3 of us are keeping our kids home we are speaking loud and clear. I may not be a teacher, but write this with hopefully inspiring teachers to fight to help our fight for Remote Classes.My boys have already missed 3 days of school. I am so sorry I voted for this Moron. All 3 of my boys are vaccinated, but they are clearly not working as intended.
Agreed, I will be signing my son and daughter out of school on Friday if schools don't transition to remote. There are many online homeschooling programs that are free for all grades.
7:45: And what effect is it if parents are keeping their kids home and 1 out of 4 teachers are absent. In some high schools, students have 3 or 4 of their teachers out. Doesn't that affect nyc children too?
Oh Well, More than half of all of my Algebra students will be getting 0's for all of the assignments they missed. There is no remote option and only students that are on quarantine list are being given the assignments to complete. DO NOT ask me why so many students are failing. Instead, ask our New Mayor who said he would listen to parents.
I am so glad I do not live in NYC because I would not send my own kids. We have over 40 teachers out, hundreds of students out, and we get pictures of Positive Covid tests all day long from teachers and students. I also refused to combine 2 other classes with my classes. I should not have to babysit for other students. Pay me 2 coverages to combine the 2 classes and then we can talk.
The urgent care centers have lines like they are giving away free money....why after two long years we still have not figured out how to defeat this sars covid virus that has warped our minds...the chinese are laughing at the variant lab getting ready to release the next variant into the world oh sow
Too many parents using the public schools as a babysitting service and not thinking of their child’s health, the lives of their other children themselves and extended families. Pediatric wards all over the city are overflowing with unvaccinated children under 5. Every single hospital. Adams cares about children? The jealous public cares about children? Do they care about that? Let the lawsuits begin. Unfortunately it will be at young children’s expense and possibly their lives. Their are young children who have other health conditions besides Covid meaning that it won’t be mild. Not trying to scare anyone. These are facts. Let Adams go after the criminals like he said he would do.
Doubling up on classes is not social distancing. Friday is a snow day. How are you going to ventilate the classroom and open the windows with the snow coming down and freezing? Air purifiers are not enough. New Jersey classrooms have partitions in between desks as well as the teachers desk. How come NYC classrooms doesn’t have it? There are classrooms and gyms with out windows. Does Adams know that?

Ahh yes, Chicago teachers actually have a union that LISTENS to its members while we are completely ignored by UFT cabal leader Mulgoon.
I think the Taylor Law is long overdue for a constitutional challenge.

With remote options, shouldn’t there be parameters in place if/when it snows. People don’t want to get stuck in dangerous driving conditions.
Just a thought…and yes, the UFT and its reps have been known to not give real answers and mulgrew wishes everything away(including covid)

We've been given "vacation" days for our spring break pay. Lame.

1107 sounds like my school except we don't do algebra. Massive absences of students and staff. Classes folded 2 or 3 into 1. Safe?
